Fire company meeting

Members of the Phoenix Fire Co. will meet on Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 7 p.m. at the headquarters. Nomination of officers will take place at this time.

Leaf pickup

The Shepherd House Food Pantry at Ebenezer E.C. Church will be open on Saturday, Oct. 10 from 9 a.m. to noon. Recipients must reside within the Jim Thorpe School District. The pantry is located at 441 Center Ave. in Jim Thorpe. Please call (570) 325-2855 for more information or to volunteer.

Leaf pickup

The Jim Thorpe Borough workers will begin to collect leaves this month. Scheduled days will be Oct. 12 and Oct. 19-23. If you have questions, please call the borough office.

Support group

St. Joseph's bereavement support group will meet on Monday, at 7 p.m. in the rectory of St. Joseph's Church. Anyone struggling with the grief process is welcome to attend. The group will meet until Oct. 19. If you have questions, please call the rectory.

PTA meeting

The L.B. Morris PTA will meet on Thursday, Sept. 24, at 7 p.m. in the cafeteria of the school. Please park in the rear of the building. The meetings are open to parents/guardians of students at the L.B. Morris grades kindergarten through eighth grade, or anyone in the community interested in the organization.

Community supper

The free community supper at St. Mark's/St. John's Episcopal Church, Race Street, will be held on Sunday, Sept. 27, from 4 to 6 p.m. The menu this month is baked ziti.

Nativity plans

Planning is starting for the annual Live Nativity. Those who would like to be a part of it this year are encouraged to attend the meeting. Organizers would love to hear your ideas. No acting experience is required for any of the portrayals.

People of all ages are also needed to help with the set, sewing, and ironing. There is a place to suit anyone's interests.

A free community supper will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 27, at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 21 Race St., Jim Thorpe. The meal will be baked ziti.
