Tax collection office

The tax collection office of Terry McElmoyle will be closed Saturday, June 29 through Saturday, July 6.

It will reopen Monday, July 8.

Paving project

The Jim Thorpe street paving project will begin on Tuesday, July 2, at 7 a.m. The rain date is Wednesday, July 3. Streets that will be paved are Main Street, Canal Street and Germantown Road. Residents living in those areas are asked to please move their vehicles if necessary, expect delays, and plan accordingly.

Clothing give-away

St. John's Lutheran Church, South Avenue, will be collecting new and slightly used clothing, any sizes beginning on Monday, July 1. These items will be used for their clothing give-away in August. If you have any articles that you wish to donate, they may dropped off at the church, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Wednesday, 6-8 p.m. during the month of July.

Bible School

St. John's Lutheran Church, South Avenue, will host this year's ecumenical Vacation Bible School. It will be held from June 24-28, 6-8:30 p.m. The theme this year is "Tell It On The Mountain." Members of the Jim Thorpe High School 1965 class will meet on Thursday, June 13, at the Blue Ridge Country Club. The social hour will begin at noon. Members of the class interested in attending should contact George Kunkel, (570) 778-6678, by today, Monday, June 10.

The Women's Bible Study group will be meeting on June 12 and June 16, at St. John's Lutheran Church, South Avenue at 6:30 p.m. The group is studying the Book of Acts and is lead by Joan DeAcetis.

Meeting set for

JTHS classes 1972-1973

A meeting will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 1 for anyone who graduated in 1972 or 1973 from Jim Thorpe High School. The meeting will be held in the pavilion near the borough office.

Bible school

Ebenezer E.C. Church, 441 Center Ave., will host a Vacation Bible School from June 17-21, from 6-8:45 p.m. The program is open to children, in grades kindergarten through 12th. For more information or to register a child, call the church office at (570) 325-2855.

The annual community venison dinner, with all the trimmings, will be held Saturday, April 6, at Christ United Church of Christ, 4th and Center streets. The meal will begin at 5 p.m. There is no charge, however, donations will be accepted.
