Egg hunt

The Diligent Fire Company, Center Ave., will host it's 64th annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 23, starting at 1 p.m. The event will be held on the company grounds and is open to children up to the age of 10.

Easter Services

St. John's Lutheran Church, 6th and North streets, will hold a Holy communion service at 9 a.m.

Ebenezer E.C. Church, 441 Center Ave., will hold an Easter sunrise service at 7 a.m. with Holy communion to follow. Another service will be held at 10:30 a.m.

Holy Week services

St. John's Lutheran Church, South Ave., will hold the following services during Holy Week. Maundy Thursday, 7 p.m. Rite of First Holy Communion, along with the stripping of the altar. Good Friday, 2 p.m. service with scriptures and prayers. There will be no service on Saturday, April 23.

Easter day, April 24, 9:15 a.m. Sunday School; 10:30 a.m. festival of Holy Communion.

The Jim Thorpe Olympian Touchdown Club will meet this evening, Monday, at 6 p.m. in the commons area of the high school. Parents, guardians, relatives and friends of the Jim Thorpe football participants are invited to attend the monthly meetings and help in any with upcoming events of the club.

Jim Thorpe Community Watch group sets walk

The Jim Thorpe Community Watch group will hold its first monthly community walk on March 31. Anyone who would like to participate should meet at Memorial Park at 6:30 p.m.

The group is hoping that many residents will join the walk to show the community's presence and its support for positive changes in the borough.

If you cannot attend, please turn on your porch light to support the program.

The walk will be held rain or shine.

Lenten Soup Supper and Scripture Service

"Toward a More Biblical Faith" will be the topic at this week's Lenten soup supper and scripture service.

It is hosted by St. John's Lutheran Church, South Avenue, and will begin at 6 p.m.

All are welcome to attend and participate. This is part of this year's theme, "Who's knocking at your front door?"

St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Race Street, will be hosting its monthly "free community supper" on Sunday, March 27, from 4-6 p.m. The menu this month is roast beef.Parents meeting

Parents of students in the class of 2011 Jim Thorpe High School are going to meet on Monday, March 28, at 7 p.m. in the commons area of the high school. Plans for the All Night party will be furthered at this time. Parents are reminded that their child's dues for the party is now payable.

Jim Thorpe Touchdown Club will hold its monthly meeting Monday, March 14 at 6 p.m. in the commons area of the Jim Thorpe Area High School. All parents of seventh and eighth, junior high and high school football players are invited to participate. The Touchdown Club is the fundraising club for the football program.
