Reunion committee meeting

The reunion committee for Jim Thorpe graduating classes 1955-1965 will meet this evening, Tuesday, at 7 o'clock at the Lion's Club pavilion at Normal Square. Those attending may bring whatever they would like to eat or drink.

Outdoor service

St. Mark's/St. John's Episcopal Church will hold an outdoor service on Sunday, Sept. 11, at 10 a.m. The service will take place at Mauch Chunk Lake Park.

The Jim Thorpe Tax Collector's office of Terry McElmoyle will be closed Saturday, Sept. 3 and Monday, Sept. 5. It will reopen Tuesday, Sept. 6.

Rally Day rescheduled

Due to the inclement weather, this past Sunday, the Rally Day events at St. John's Lutheran Church, South Avenue, had to be postponed. The celebration will now be held on Sunday, Sept. 4, at 9:15 a.m. in the fellowship hall of the church.

The children of the Sunday School will enjoy an all school craft and will receive their World Hunger banks. There are three children of the Sunday School who will be receiving their Bibles. They are Alexis Keiper, Daphnie Morris and Hager Rodgers.

The American Red Cross bloodmobile will be stationed at Memorial Hall on Wednesday, Aug. 24, from 1-6 p.m. Donors must be 17 years of age or older.

Meet the Olympians

With the new school year approaching and fall sports to begin, Jim Thorpe Area High School will be the scene of the "Meet the Olympians" on Wednesday, Aug. 24, starting at 7 p.m. Members of the fall sports teams, along with their coaches will be introduced to their fans.

Community Watch Group meeting

A meeting of Jim Thorpe's Community Watch Group will be held at 7 p.m., on Aug. 18, at Memorial Hall. There will be two guest speakers including Mark Nalesnik, who will do a PowerPoint presentation on the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT); and Cindy Henning and Guy Antolick, who will do a presentation on the National Night Out program.

New members are always welcome.

The next meeting of the planning committee for the Jim Thorpe High School reunion for the classes of 1955-1965 will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 6, at 7 p.m. at the Lions Pavilion, Normal Square.

The committee planning the joint reunion for the classes of 1955 through 1965 of Jim Thorpe High School is looking for addresses of classmates from the class of 1956. They include: Gertrude Mueller Klemp, William Becker, Don Black, Myron O'Neil and Paul Solomon. Sunday school teachers

The Sunday School teachers of St. John's Lutheran Church, South Avenue, will meet on Thursday, Aug. 4, at 7 p.m. in the church. Sunday School classes will resume for the new year on Sunday, Aug. 28, at 9:15 a.m.
