The Tamaqua Leo Club will sponsor a benefit dance for students in grades 7-12 this Friday at the Tamaqua Salvation Army. The event will be held from 6-10 p.m. and will benefit the salvation Army's Feed the Hungry Program. Canned goods donations will be accepted. Entertainment will be provided by the Planet Apple Band and DJImbody, who have agreed to donate their services.

Coaldale

GOP to meet

The Coaldale Republican Party will hold a meeting at the West Ward Rod & Gun Club on Monday, Feb. 14, at 7 p.m. Petitions and election information will be available for candidates interested in running in the Primary Election on May 17 for positions on borough council and the Panther Valley School Board.

Bob Ames, town chair, will preside at the meeting.

The PVI PTO meeting will be on Wednesday, Feb. 16 at 4:15 p.m. in the school library.

The monthly PTO meeting will be held on Thursday, Feb. 17 at 4 p.m. in the school cafeteria. All are welcome to attend.

Sleigh riding at PVI

On Saturday, Feb. 19, bring your sled. The WEPOSC will be sponsoring sleigh riding at Pleasant Valley Intermediate School from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., weather permitting. There will be hot cocoa and treats. For more information, call (570) 992-9733.

Relay for Life

Newspaper drive

Due to bad weather the monthly newspaper drive by St. John's Lutheran Church has been rescheduled for Saturday, Feb. 12, beginning at 8 a.m. The garage across from the church is always open for anyone wishing to take papers there.

Northern Lehigh Historical Society

The Northern Lehigh Historical Society will meet on Wednesday, March 30 at the Lehigh Gap Nature Center, and will open with a business meeting at 7 p.m., followed by a presentation by Dan Kunkle, executive director of the Nature Center, who will conduct a tour of the new visitor and education center. Many served

Effort UMC's Supplemental Food Resource Center served over 20 families, totaling over 110 folks, this past Saturday even though the area had ice problems.

The current needs at the center are soup, corn, chili/stew, noodles (any kind), boxed potatoes, mustard, ketchup and mayonnaise.

The center is also looking for toothpaste, shampoo and deodorant.

Donations may be brought to the church during regular office hours.

C.H.O.S.E. to meet

The C.H.O.S.E. Recreational Organization of Coaldale will have a meeting Thursday, Feb. 10 at 7 p.m. at the home of President Angela Krapf in Coaldale. Plans will be made for up coming events for the year. New members are always welcomed and needed.
