At 7 p.m. Monday, March 21, a meeting of the Relay For Life of Palmerton and Surrounding Communities will be held at the Palmerton High School.

After a two-month winter hiatus the Western Pocono Women's Club will meet at 7 p.m., Monday, March 21, at the Effort Methodist Church. This will be a social evening and a chance to catch up on the club's business.

THE JROTC of the Panther Valley High School plans to meet on Thursday, March 17 at 6 p.m. in the classroom of the high school.

May 13 is the Awards Night program.

Summit Hill

Cat licensing

Summit Hill Borough officials remind residents the borough has a cat ordinance that requires owners of cats to obtain a license for the pet.

The fee is $5, which includes $4 for the license and $1 for registration and the registration tag.

Senior news

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens group meets every Thursday, at 1 p.m., at the Tamaqua Community Center, located to the rear of Boyer's Food Mart.

Last week's meeting was attended by 68 members. One new members, Joan Brown, was welcomed to the group.

President Jean Machamer conducted the business session and offered readings. Eleanor Roberts offered the invocation, entitled "Christian Life."

Touchdown Club meets

Jim Thorpe Touchdown Club will hold its monthly meeting Monday, March 14 at 6 p.m. in the commons area of the Jim Thorpe Area High School. All parents of seventh and eighth, junior high and high school football players are invited to participate. The Touchdown Club is the fundraising club for the football program. St. Paul Lutheran

A healing service will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill, on Sunday, March 13, beginning at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. John F. Hazel Jr., pastor, will officiate. The Sunday school will meet at 9 a.m.

On Wednesday, March 16, a midweek Lenten service will be held at 7 p.m. at the church. There will be a light supper of soup and sandwiches prior to worship at 6:15 p.m.

Rush-Ryan seniors

The Rush, Ryan and Delano Senior Citizens Inc. met March 8 at the Ryan Township Fire Company with 50 members in attendance. Two new members, Vern Balliet and Bill Morrison, were welcomed. Leona Machay was welcomed back following an absence.

President Eleanor Schmerfeld conducted the business meeting. Jane Springer offered an invocation. Reports were presented by secretary Florina Martin and treasurer Shirley Becker. A thank you card was received from Sylvia Garcia. Birthday greetings were extended to Ruth Grube, Ellie Zakrewsky and Vern Balliet.

Kids Party Club plans meeting

Kids Party Club will meet from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 12 at St. Peter Evangelical Church, 177 Main Rd., East Weissport (Franklin Township).

There will be a Bible story, songs, snacks and games.
