Al-Anon meetings

Al-Anon group to meet Mondays at 7:15 p.m. at St. Katharine Drexel Church Hall, 120 E. Abbott St., Lansford.

Al-Anon is a nonprofit, worldwide support organization helping families and friends of loved ones suffering from addiction.


Lions Club meeting

The Nesquehoning Lions Club will hold its monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Lengyel's Restaurant in Nesquehoning.

All are welcome to attend.

Senior drivers

The Tamaqua Salvation Army will host AARP Safe Driving classes, full certification and refresher, in April. The classes are open to anyone age 50 or older.

The full certification, 8-hour class will be held in two sessions, from noon to 4 p.m. on April 13 and 14. The refresher class, which is four hours, will be held from noon to 4 p.m. on April 16.

James Greaser will be the instructor for all sessions. The refresher course is available to those who have completed the full certification class within the past 36 months.

Trinity happenings

Holy Week services at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., Lehighton: 7 p.m. Maundy Thursday worship with Holy Communion, and Good Friday Tenebrae at 7 p.m. Friday. Designated pastor the Rev. Nancy Moore presides.

First Saturday/Vigil of Easter with Holy Communion and baptism at 5 p.m. The Rev. Michael Frost, pastor at Zion's Stone Church, New Ringgold, presides.

Easter Sunday worship with Holy Communion, 8 and 10 a.m. the Rev. Moore presides. There will be no Sunday school or confirmation classes. Classes resume April 12.

Miller-Keystone Blood Drive

The Miller-Keystone Blood Center needs to collect 450 units of blood per day to meet the needs of the hospitals that it serves. Every two seconds, someone in the United States receives a donation of blood.

To help serve the community, Miller-Keystone will be coming to Northern Lehigh High School on April 10.

The blood drive will be held in the high school gym at 1 Bulldog Lane in Slatington, from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Walk-ins are welcomed and must check in upon arrival at the main office.

The next meeting of the Nesquehoning Neighborhood Watch will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the borough hall. All are welcome.

Commission to meet

The next meeting of the Nesquehoning Recreation Commission will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the rec center. All are welcome.

VFW Ladies Auxiliary

The regular monthly meeting of the Ladies Auxiliary to Nesquehoning Memorial VFW Post 8008 will be held on at 1 p.m. April 12.

Egg hunt

Living Hope Lighthouse Church will sponsor a free egg hunt in the Palmerton Borough Park at 10 a.m. Saturday.

There will be prizes, crafts and refreshments.

Pictures with the Easter Bunny will be in the fellowship hall, 705 Third St, Palmerton.

Concourse Club

The Palmerton Concourse Club will meet at 7 p.m. April 9 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2915 Fireline Road, Palmerton.

Folk music will be the highlight of the program for the evening.

Coaldale news

The Coaldale Tax Office will be closed Holy Thursday, April 2, and Good Friday, April 3.

Normal hours will resume Tuesday, April 7, from 10 a.m. to noon, and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Proof of eligibility must be included with a filled out application, to quality when filing for exemption.

The Coaldale Borough Office will also be closed Good Friday, April 3.


Trinity Lutheran Church

A Good Friday service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday.

The Easter Sunday communion service will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m..

Denture checkup

Sherry Dental at 41 W. Broad St. in Tamaqua is hosting "Denture Days" this Friday and Saturday, offering a free checkup for current denture and partial denture wearers.

No appointments are necessary, and availability is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Dr. Kile Sherry will conduct a complimentary exam and answer questions related to cracked, worn and ill-fitting dentures.

Hours will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

Eldred announcement

The Community Center in Kunkletown is officially open for business. Tenants are moving in next month, and the township is planning a number of events that officials hope will interest residents, who are encouraged to offer ideas and input for events and presentations.

Some ideas include a community garden, a farmers market, fun dog show, community yard sale and flea market, and a craft show.

The township is seeking volunteers to help coordinate these events, including gardeners who could lend advice on a collaborative gardening effort.

A meeting of the Palmer PTO will be held at the elementary school Monday, April 13 at 7 p.m.

Al-Anon Family Groups

Al-Anon Family Groups meet at different locations in the Palmerton Area.

From 7 to 8 p.m. on Monday evenings, Al-Anon Family Group/Serenity Seekers meet at Salem United Methodist Church, 4145 Forest Inn Road, Palmerton.

Alateen support group for teens of families struggling with alcohol and Adult Al-Anon and AA meetings are from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesdays at Faith Alive Church, 678 Pine St., Palmerton/Bowmanstown.
