Rotary mixer

The West End Rotary Club will hold a mixer from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Thursday at Cherry's Sunset Diner in Kresgeville.

Thanksgiving Dinner

Faith Alive United Methodist Church, 678 Pine St. in Bowmanstown, will offer a Thanksgiving dinner on Nov. 22 at the church.

The meal will be served at 1, 2, and 3 p.m. All are welcome to enjoy. There are no takeouts.

Transportation arrangements for disabled or homebound delivery is due before Tuesday.

Veterans honored

Tamaqua Masonic Lodge 238, Free and Accepted Masons, will honor all military veterans from the greater Tamaqua area on Nov. 19 at the Masonic Lodge, Route 54 and Shawn Avenue in Hometown. Festivities will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will include a brief ceremony and the presentation of pins to individual veterans. Refreshments will be served.

Reservations are strongly recommended to ensure there are enough pins and refreshments and may be made by calling 570-668-4532 or 570-668-5311.

All veterans, families and friends are welcome.

Veterans parade

Tamaqua's Veterans Day Parade will be held this Saturday, with the line of march scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Participants will meet at 900 E. Broad St., the former Maff Motors, at 9 a.m. for staging purposes.

This year's grand marshal is Charlie Hollenbach, a veteran of World War II and the Korean War and an active member of the Tamaqua American Legion, C.H. Berry Post 173.

Parade organizers welcome everyone to walk or drive in the parade to show their support of America's military men and women.

Golden Agers

The Oct. 27 meeting of the Panther Valley Golden Agers opened with a prayer and singing of God Bless America.

Norma Lee Burke entertained with singing Halloween melodies.

The hospitality committee for the Nov. 10 and Dec. 8 meetings are Dee Neifert and Fran Hager.

The last day to sign up for the Christmas Party will be Monday.

Members celebrating birthdays from September through December will be honored at the Dec. 8 meeting.

The next meeting will be Monday beginning at 1 p.m.

Bingo is scheduled to be played.

St. Matthew's UCC will hold two worship services Sunday. The regular service is at 9 a.m. and The Family Table's alternative service is at noon featuring members of the Cramer Brothers Band. All are welcome.

Trinity Happenings

Sunday worship at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., begins at 9 a.m. Music is provided by the Trinity Praise Band, with guest vocalist Becky McFadden. Guest pastor, the Rev. Richard Baumann, presides. Coffeehouse fellowship follows.

Weekly Sunday school classes for young people ages 3 though grade 12 begin at 10:30 a.m. Level 1 and 11 (grades seven and eight) Confirmation classes begin at 10:30 a.m.

Church as a verb

The Tamaqua Area Faith Fellowship Network will host a free showing of the film "When God Left the Building" this Saturday at the New Life Assembly of God Church, 407 Schuylkill Ave.

The film presentation will begin at 1 p.m. and is hoped to stimulate discussion on how area congregations can more effectively reach out to the community.

The free presentation has been made possible thanks to generous contributions from several Tamaqua congregations and organizations.
