Christmas Special

St. Matthew's UCC's Family Table will be hosting a very special Christmas treat Sunday, Dec. 14. The regular Alternative Worship service will be held at 12 p.m. featuring The Cramer Brothers.

St. Matthew's welcomes everyone to this upbeat service with Communion for all.

Then at 1:15 p.m. the band will perform a Christmas Special with Christmas music and sounds of the season with a visit from Santa.

Middle school concert

The music department of the Tamaqua Area Middle School will present its annual "Holiday Music Program" on Dec. 17, in the school auditorium.

The evening will feature selections by the sixth grade band, under the direction of Marsha Rodgers; the Middle School General Chorus and the Middle School Select Chorus, both under the direction of John Buglio.

Accompanists will include Hannah Betz, Cailyn Joseph, Sirra Petrucci and Faith Roberts.

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the music is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

Bethany E.C. Church

Sunday worship with the Rev. Jeff Stansbury, pastor, is at 10:45 a.m.

Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m. with classes for all ages, including adult Bible study class.

Other events next week include: Monday, Kid's Club (ages K-seventh grade) at 5:30 p.m.; Tuesday, Ladies Bible Study at 10 a.m.; Wednesday, Prayer Meeting at 7 p.m.; Thursday, men's Bible study at McDonald's at 5:15 a.m.; and Friday, True Women Bible Study and Play Group at 9 a.m.

The Slatington Lions Club will hold an indoor meeting at the Moose at 7 p.m. Dec. 16.

Christmas caroling

The Health Ministry Team at Zion Lutheran will be hosting a caroling event for the church's shut-ins on Friday, beginning at 5 p.m. with refreshments.

Carolers will leave at 6 p.m. and return at 8 p.m. The snow/ice date is Dec. 19.

St. Peter's Methodist in Saylorsburg will be caroling for its shut-ins on Sunday, beginning at 4 p.m.

Santa's coming

Santa arrives at 6 p.m. at the Chestnuthill Park in Brodheadsville. Music, hot cocoa and cookies will be available. Families may bring a camera for pictures with Santa.

Wednesday service at St. John the Evangelist Lutheran Church, 1 E. Abbott St., Lansford, 7 p.m., Holden Evening Prayer Service with Holy Communion.

For those who wish to come early, a free, simple supper will be served at 6 p.m., and a brief Bible study is held at 6:30 p.m.

The Tamaqua Senior High School Music Department will present its annual holiday music program this Thursday in the Tamaqua Area Auditorium. The concert will feature the student Concert Choir, Jazz Chorale, senior high Wind Ensemble and the Raider Concert Band. It will conclude with a sing-along.

Accompanists for the choir are Sierra Petrucci, Faith Roberts and Patrick McMullen.

The band and wind ensemble are under the direction of Mark Beltz, while the concert choir and jazz chorale are under the direction of John Buglio.

Lansford

Golden Agers

The next scheduled meeting of the Panther Valley Golden Agers will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at St. John Slovak Lutheran Church social hall, 1 E. Abbott St., Lansford.

At this meeting, members celebrating birthdays in September through December will be recognized.

Hospitality committee for December and January will be Diane Gould and Mary Ann Maynard.

Bingo is scheduled to be played.

Meetings are scheduled every second and fourth Monday each month.

Rush-Ryan seniors

The Rush, Ryan and Delano Senior Citizens Inc. met Nov. 25 at the Ryan Township Fire Company in Barnesville with 41 members attending.

The business session was conducted by President Eleanor Schmerfeld. Chaplain Kathleen Valentine offered the invocation, "Make Me Worthy."

Birthday greetings were offered to Muriel Wehr. Anniversary wishes were extended to Jim and Kathleen Valentine, who celebrated 65 years together. Shirley Becker shared several jokes, and Ruthann Feane offered a reading of "Thank You God For Everything."
