Blood drives today

Cornerstone Community Church, 388 Polk Township Road, Kresgeville will hold an American Red Cross blood drive from 1-6 p.m. today.

Blood and double red cells will be accepted.

In addition, on Thursday another American Red Cross blood drive will be held at the Pocono Medical Center West End Health Care Center on Burrus Road in Brodheadsville, from noon to 5 p.m.

The members and guests of the Nesquehoning Woman's Club will open their season with a dinner at 6 p.m. Sept. 13 at the Parkview Inn in Summit Hill.

Trinity United Church of Christ, 22 Lafayette St., Tamaqua, hosts an informal community worship at 6 p.m. Saturdays, downstairs in Founder's Hall.

Raider night

It's time to start preparing for the 2015-16 school year for students in the Tamaqua Area School District. Classes will start Aug. 24.

The Fall "Meet the Raiders night" will be held at 7 p.m. Aug. 26 in the district's sports stadium. Participants in the fall sports programs, including players, cheerleaders and coaches, will be recognized.

The Blue Raider Marching Band will present its field show.

The event is free and open to the public.

TEPTO to meet

The new school year is just around the corner and it's time for the Tamaqua Elementary Parent Teacher Organization to ramp up efforts on behalf of the students.

The first meeting of the 2015-2016 school year is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., Aug. 18, in the Tamaqua elementary School library.

Parents and guardians of all Tamaqua elementary students are welcome to attend.

Field to fork

Schuylkill County Master Gardeners will offer a free learning experience for county residents to learn more about how vegetables go from the fields to the dinner table.

Trinity Happenings

Sunday worship with Holy Communion at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St. begins at 9 a.m. The church is air-conditioned. The Rev. Nancy Moore presides. Coffeehouse fellowship follows.

Free yoga sessions are available 2-3 p.m. Friday afternoons. Enter at the Third Street office door to go to the youth room. Bring your own mat and water. No baby-sitting service is available.

fellowship

The Tamaqua Area Faith Fellowship Network will host an evening of ecumenical music, messages and fellowship on Aug. 9. The event will be held at the Tamaqua Arts Center, 125 Pine St., Tamaqua, beginning at 7 p.m.

Guest musicians will be the Praise Band from the Blue Mountain Community Church in Palmerton. The band is led by pastor Jennifer Eckert. The evening will include a singalong and ice cream.

Brief messages will be offered by TAFFN and Tamaqua Area Ministerial Association representatives.
