This Christmas season was marred by the murder of 20 children and 7 adults in a Connecticut school last week. While our nation grieves, there is no practical way to stop crazed individuals from committing this type of crime. The school had precautions in place but they could not stop a man armed with a small arsenal of weapons and enough bullets to take on an Army platoon. This was a heinous crime as bad or worse as previous massacres. Unfortunately, it is not the last time we will see a desperate individual commit mass murder.

I have had enough of the fiscal cliff baloney that permeates the airwaves. The fiscal cliff was designed by politicians to punish our country for the politicians' own inability to act. Fiscal cliff fears are just idle chatter designed to fuel the electorate and goad politicians into passing another spending extension. Instead of playing this foolish game, congress and the president should be putting together a budget, a real budget, something we have not had in almost four years. Despite all the sabre rattling and fear mongering, our elected representatives have yet to pass a budget.

As we approach the fiscal cliff, it is clear that Mr. Boehner has caved to the president and the Democrats. Rather than force the government to balance the budget, Mr. Boehner has decided to abandon the principles of the Republican Party that were forged over 20 years ago. Instead of holding the line on taxes as he promised, he has decided to use semantics in a foolish attempt to trick voters into believing that he is not raising taxes. Anyone with half a brain will see through his reclassification of tax deductions, now calling them loopholes. Get real!

I am very concerned about the current economic crisis and political paralysis that is affecting our country. The majority of the voters spoke and now we must live with the outcome. We will have another four years with a socialist president at the helm of our nation. In the first term of the Obama administration, our international reputation was destroyed! We promised to support our allies, and then we abandoned them. Our president quietly supports the Palestinians in their efforts to bring down the State of Israel.

The November 16, 2012 deadline for the States to decide if they will implement a Health Insurance Exchange, required by "The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act", or "Obamacare" as it is commonly now known, was extended to December 14, 2012. This extension was given primarily because of a request by the Republican Governors Association (RGA) since their many questions about the Health Insurance Exchanges had not yet been answered by the Obama Administration.

Everyone is talking about the looming fiscal cliff and how it is a major threat to the American economy. Let's get the facts straight! The politicians constructed the fiscal cliff as a face-saving measure because they could not balance the budget (Budget Control Act of 2011). They deferred the decision to increase taxes and cut spending to January 1, 2013 in the hopes that they could miraculously come together and find a method to refill the coffers after they squandered the money collected from the American people.

Obama won the election because a majority of the voters believed that he is the best person for the job. His campaign was a wonderful mosaic of carefully crafted sound bites that chastised the wealth creators who made America great while offering platitudes to those who subsist on handouts from Emperor Obama's well-oiled welfare machine.

It has been reported recently that residents in 44 States have filed Petitions with Barack Hussein Obama II that request permission from him for their State to peacefully secede from the Union.

Barack Obama was reelected in a landslide last Tuesday. I supported Mitt Romney and was very disappointed when he lost. Simply stated, there were not enough conservative voters for Romney to win. Young people, women, and minorities thronged to vote for President Obama. I am very concerned about the state of our union and the effect of another four years with a socialist President leading our country. Our economy was destroyed in the recession and we are just starting down the road to recovery.

In the past, I've written several articles on disaster preparedness. Some readers contacted me to answer their questions after reading the articles. I hope that they were able to complete their preparations and were ready when Hurricane Sandy hit. Over the weekend, I watched as many people scurried from store to store to purchase water, food, and other emergency supplies. Our local supermarket did their best to keep items in stock, however they could not keep up with the initial demand. The secret to disaster preparedness, as many now know, is to prepare well in advance of a disaster.
