On July 29, 1991, Randall Samborn, a National Law Journal Staff Reporter, wrote an eye-opening article about the 100th annual meeting of the Uniform Law Commissioners. If you are not aware of this very influential group of approximately 300 prestigious attorneys, judges and professors of law, you are the rule, not the exception. The official name of this little known organization is the "National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws" (NCCUSL), which is usually shortened to the ULC. The current headquarters of the ULC is at 676 North St.

President Obama has taken actions that I believe could result in the overthrow of America and our way of life. His Chicago-style tactics to force socialism on America is working. More people than ever before are on food stamps. Unemployment remains high, as I have mentioned in previous articles. Now that the president has been elected for a second term, I see evidence that he is preparing to become dictator when his current term ends. He cannot be reelected! Instead he will use his civilian army (FEMA Brown Shirts) to take control of American cities and towns.

History proves that a lie, no matter how small, almost always leads to another lie, usually a larger one to cover up the previous lie, which leads to a bigger lie, and so on. Violating the ninth Commandment of the Ten Commandments is a Sin, a violation of God's law.

William Penn was born on October 14, 1644 in London to wealthy parents. His father was a dedicated naval officer who spent a great deal of time at sea. At a young age, Penn caught smallpox, which caused the family to move to a country estate in Essex. Growing up in this agricultural environment had a lasting effect on his life. William was raised a Puritan, while being privately tutored, until he later attended the Anglican affiliated Christ Church College in Oxford, England. A rebellious William Penn later studied law, among other subjects, in Paris. He became a Quaker in 1666.

Glenwood Gardens in Bakersfield may soon be haunted. The ghost of an 87-year-old woman may roam the building looking for someone who can perform CPR. Loraine Bayless died on the floor after being denied possible life saving CPR. Company policy required staff to call for emergency responders. After responders were called, a facility staff member, who may have been a nurse, refused to perform CPR as it violated company policy. The 911 operator who took the call pleaded with the staff member to start CPR and even volunteered to talk the staff member through the process.

The president is supposed to be a leader not a dictator. Instead of crafting a pathway around the hazards facing our nation, President Obama is pushing our nation from crisis to crisis. In doing so, he is manipulating the American people and destroying our nation's reputation at home and abroad. He uses invented crises to cajole our citizens into accepting his Chicago-style gangster rule. A few weeks ago, it was the fiscal cliff. This week, it is the sequester. What will it be next week?

From the outset, America's Founders realized that the temptations of power and corruption would someday be too much for any of the three branches of government to resist, let alone the checks and balances in the other branches. They foresaw the folly of trusting the government to protect individual rights and realized that, ultimately, citizens at the local level, acting according to dictates of their individual consciences, would need to have the final authority, the final check and balance, expressed as veto power over bad laws.

This week, the TSA swarmed over a three year old handicapped child in a wheelchair. The girl and her family successfully cleared inspection at the normal TSA checkpoint. Then they were harassed by an agent who pulled them aside for additional screening because of the child's condition (Spina bifida). The father stated that the TSA agent claimed that: "They are specifically singling out disabled people for this special scrutiny." The heartless TSA agent even took the child's stuffed animal, causing her more distress and likely instilling fear in her that will last her entire life.

The president gave his State of the Union Address this week. After listening to it, I realized that our presidents, past and present, live in a different world than the rest of us. They have the problems of the world on their shoulders: wars, national security, the economy, law enforcement, the health and welfare of our citizens and the education of our children.

As a retired small-business owner, I understand the importance of cash flow. Even though my invoice terms were net 14 days, clients would often delay payment for 60 or even 90 days. We were a very payroll intensive company. Our staff consultants had to be paid every two weeks. The time delay between paying our staff and receiving payment from our clients severely impacted our cash flow. Our large corporate clients managed their cash flow very well. They would mail their payments to arrive on a Saturday when the banks were closed.
