Mr. and Mrs. David Wieand of Tamaqua recently celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary. They were married on May 21, 1982, by Willard Steigerwalt at the magistrate's office in Palmerton.

Mrs. Wieand is the former Louise Galloway, daughter of Kay Jennings of Tamaqua and the late Charles Galloway.

Mr. Wieand is the son of Jessie Schrader of Slatington and the late Richard Wieand.

The couple has three children, Robert Wieand, and Melissa, wife of Michael May, all of Lansford; and Nicole Wieand of Coaldale. They also have four grandchildren.

Jim Thorpe couple celebrating 60 years

John and Bertha Meckes of Jim Thorpe are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary today.

They were married May 24, 1952 at Christ U.C.C. Church in Jim Thorpe.

Mrs. Meckes is the former Bertha Heckman, daughter of the late Mary and Asher Heckman.

Mr. Meckes is the son of late John Sr. and Suzie Meckes.

The couple has one daughter Renee, wife of Michael Seyfried, Lehighton.

The couple also has twin grandsons, Christopher, married to Rebeka Melber Seyfried of Erie and Gregory of Lehighton.

A family dinner is planned to celebrate the event.

Jim Thorpe couple wed 50 years

Mr. and Mrs. Richard J. Klepper, Jim Thorpe, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday. They were married on April 28, 1962 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Miller Heights, Bethlehem by the late Rev. Msgr. Francis Gilley.

Mrs. Klepper is the former Frances Marie Kopas, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Michael Kopas of Bethlehem. Mr. Klepper is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Klepper, Hellertown.

Penn Forest couple wed 25 years

Jim and Michele Walck of Penn Forest Township are celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary.

The Walcks were married on April 3, 1987 at St. Paul's in Albrightsville.

Their attendants were bridesmaids, Jodi (Rhyder) Sonon, daughter of the bride; Noreen (Smith) Rosanio, sister of the bride; Bill Berger, best man, cousin of the bridegroom; and Jesse Rhyder, usher, son of the bride.

Mrs. Walck is the former Michele Smith of Jim Thorpe. She is employed as a caseworker for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Mr. Walck works for the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission.

Palmerton couple celebrates 74 years

Harlan and Edith George of Palmerton, are celebrating their 74th wedding anniversary today. They were wed April 2, 1938 in Elton, Md.

Mrs. George is the former Edith Smith, daughter of the late Wilson and Emma Smith.

Mr. George is the son of the late Charles and Minerva George.

The couple has one daughter, Devoe Snyder of Little Gap. They also have one grandson, Randy Snyder of Kunkletown and two great-grandchildren, Melissa and Brandon Snyder.

Panther Valley couple wed 60 years

Mr. and Mrs. Louis Bales of Nesquehoning, formerly of Lansford, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary recently. They were the guests of honor at a dinner attended by family and friends.

They were married Jan. 12, 1952, in St. Ann Catholic Church, Lansford.

They have four children: Ann Louise Stevens of Warminster, Pa.; Paul Bales, deceased; Ida Jean Steele of Summit Hill; and Roberta Bales of Lansford. They also have seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The couple owned the former Hotel Aquila, Lansford, for 23 years.

Western Pocono Women's Club hosts Pocono Medical Center's CEO

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Pampanin of Summit Hill will celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary on Saturday.

They were married on Sept. 26, 1964 in St. Joseph's Church in Summit Hill by Monsignor Hailey.

Mrs. Pampanin is the former Elizabeth Philipovich, daughter of the late Peter and Christine Philipovich.

Mr. Pampanin is the son of the late Peter and Helen Pampanin.

George and Joan Gernavage of Still Creek, celebrated their golden anniversary recently. They were wed March 10, 1962 in Saint Nicholas Orthodox Church, Lansford.

Mrs. Gernavage is the former Joan Guresh, daughter of the late Walter and Mary Guresh of Still Creek.

Mr. Gernavage is the son of the late Albert and Catherine Gernavage of Tamaqua.

The couple has two children, Mara Gernavage and Renata Gernavage. They also have two grandchildren, Brea Albert and Kayla Morgans, as well as two great-grandchildren, Emilee and Donavin Albert.

Couple celebrating 50 years of marriage

Mr. and Mrs. Arlan W. Conrad of Mertztown will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday.

The Conrads were married on March 17, 1962 in Fleetwood, Pa.

Mrs. Conrad is the former Norma K. Hill, daughter of the late Mabel M. and Norman (Mickey) Hill of New Ringgold. She is a former New Ringgold resident.

Mr. Conrad is the son of William and Edna Conrad of Mertztown.

They have one daughter, Regina, who is married to Jason Kohl of Mertztown.

The couple will celebrate the occasion with a party given in their honor.

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Barachie Jr. of Franklin Township will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary on Sunday. They were married by the Rev. Melvin Hammer Jr. on March 4, 1972 in St. Matthew's Evangelical Lutheran Church of North Weissport.

Mrs. Barachie is the former Rose Nenscel, daughter of the late Joseph and Iva Nenscel of Gilbert. She is employed by PenTeleData.

Mr. Barachie is the son of the late Joseph and Mary Barachie Sr. of Jim Thorpe. He is a part owner of Pol-Bar Automotive in Lehighton.
