Mr. and Mrs. Gary Smudin of Quakake celebrated their 34 wedding anniversary on Oct. 4.

They were married in Christ Lutheran Church, Barnesville, by the Rev. Ernest Houston.

Mrs. Smudin is the former Shirley Neifert, daughter of Grace (Hinkle) Neifert of Quakake and the late Elden Neifert. Her husband is the son of the late Algerd and Gladys (Lewis) Smudin of Tamaqua.

They have three daughters: Jamie, wife of Kory Beidleman, Clamtown; Leslie, wife of Ryan Keefer, Cressona; and Tracy, Quakake, engaged to Damien Earhart.

Aquashicola couple wed 60 years

Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Hartman of Aquashicola recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

They were married Aug. 6, 1949 at the Evangelical Congregational Church in Palmerton by the Reverends Oswald and Ditterline.

The couple marked the occasion with a family dinner at The Inn of William Stoddard, Stemlersville.

Mrs. Hartman is the former Betty Graver, daughter of Clara and Howard Graver, Aquashicola.

She is retired from The First National Bank of Palmerton, after 18 years of service.

Franklin Townshipcouple wed 50 years

Mr. and Mrs. Robert D. Berger Jr. of Franklin Township will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday.

They were married on Sept. 26, 1959 at St. John's United Church of Christ in Mahoning Valley by the late Rev. George P. Fetterolf.

Mrs. Berger is the former Ferne Elaine Mertz, daughter of the late Augusta and John Mertz of Mahoning Valley. Mr. Berger is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert D. Berger Sr. of Franklin Township.

Correction: Lawson anniversary

In the Mr. and Mrs. Joseph B. Lawson anniversary write-up that was in Tuesday's TIMES NEWS, Mr. Lawson was incorrectly identified as Mr. Houser. It should have read "Mr. Lawson is the son of the late Joseph and Rose (Pierce) Lawson."

Coaldale couple celebrates silver anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Donald Mantz of Coaldale will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary on Sept. 15. They were married in 1984, at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church in Lansford, by the Revs. Thomas Derzack, Joseph Shalonis, and Frank Baransky.

Mrs. Mantz is the former Mary Hajcak, daughter of John Hajcak of Lansford, and the late Christine (Horvath) Hajcak. She is employed by the Panther Valley School District as a teacher's aide.

Tamaqua couple wed 50 years

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph B. Lawson will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday. They were married on Sept. 12, 1959 at St. Jerome's Church in Tamaqua by the Rev. Joseph A. Sheehan.

Mrs. Lawson is the former Nancy Houser, daughter of the late Lester and Isabell (Klemchusky) Houser.

Mr. Houser is the son of the late Joseph and Rose (Pierce) Lawson.
