Mr. and Mrs. Lester Kintz on their wedding day.

Lester and Kathleen Kintz of Lehighton celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Feb. 21.

The Kintz's have four children: Lester Kintz of Palmerton, Robert Kintz of Lehighton, Diane Mertz of Lehighton, and William Kintz, also of Lehighton.

They have seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Joshua Timothy DeSousa

A son, Joshua Timothy DeSousa, was born at 11:33 a.m. Jan. 27, 2013 at Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest to Michelle and Jared DeSousa of Walnutport.

He weighed 7 pounds, 11 ounces and measured 20.5 inches long.

Maternal grandparents are Timothy and Linda DeSousa of Palmerton.

Paternal grandparents are Kathy and Dave Wanamaker, also of Palmerton.

Nicholas Ronnie Trubilla

A son, Nicholas Ronnie Trubilla, was born at 12:19 a.m. Jan. 13, 2013 at Scripps Memorial Hospital in Encinitas, Calif. to Chad and Carole Trubilla of Oceanside, Calif.

He weighed 7 pounds, 13 ounces and measured 19.5 inches long.

Maternal grandparents are Ronald and Carole Monkres of Warrington, Pa.

Paternal grandparents are Nicholas and Irene Trubilla of Hometown.

He is the great-grandson of Irene Span of Coplay.

Stephen Clabia and Sarah Searfoss

Sarah Ellen Searfoss and Stephen Andrew Clabia, together with their parents, have announced their engagement.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Carol Searfoss and the late Thomas Searfoss of White Haven. A 2008 graduate of Weatherly Area High School, she received a bachelor of science degree in special education from East Stroudsburg University in 2012.

She is currently employed as an instructional aide at Packer Ridge Academy in Lehighton.

Anna Bowman

Anna Bowman, a resident at The Village at Palmerton, observed her 88th birthday on Feb. 11.

Born and raised on her grandparents' farm (Peter and Barbara George) in Palmerton, Anna was the oldest of three children.

She graduated from Palmerton High School in 1942, went to work at Regent Market and later Shipman's Pharmacy where she worked for 15 years.

"I always enjoyed meeting and helping people, so it was the perfect place for me to be."

Mr. and Mrs. J. Christopher West

Johnna Leigh Yurko, daughter of Sharon and Robert Yurko of Summit Hill, and J. Christopher West, son of Carol West and Jay Stevens of Tunkhannock, were united in marriage on Dec. 15, 2012 at the Stroudsmoor Country Inn in Stroudsburg.

The Rev. Ellyn Kravette officiated the double ring ceremony, which included music on violin and cello by Penn Strings.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride chose Yvette Yurko of Allentown to be maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Mandy Breiner, Nesquehoning ,and Jennifer Horvath, Stroudsburg.

Alissa Byerley, daughter of Lynn and Nancy Byerley of Palmerton, and Christopher Mathisen, son of Thomas and Cathe Mathisen of Lehighton, were united in marriage on Aug. 25, 2012 at the Old Homestead Tree Farm in Lehighton.

The Rev. Anthony Pagotto, of Lehighton, officiated the double ring ceremony.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride chose Jennifer Fisher of Effort to be her maid of honor. Bridesmaids included Amy Zeiser of Slatington and Amanda Mathisen of Lehighton.

Dorothy Abelovsky

Dorothy Abelovsky, a resident of The Village at Palmerton, celebrated her 89th birthday Feb. 16.

Born in Egypt, Pa., she later moved to Northampton. Dorothy was one of five children, and the only girl.

When she was 16, her brothers asked her to fill in on their baseball team as an outfielder, because they were "one man down." After the game, one of the fellows came up to her and said, "Hi Dorothy, I'm Joseph, and one day I am going to ask you to marry me." Dorothy said she gave him a look of horror.
