Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Allen

Karli I. Thomas, daughter of Jeff and Renee Thomas of Jim Thorpe, and Rudy Allen, son of Rudy and Rita Allen of Winchester, Va. were united in marriage on Aug. 12, 2013, in a double ring ceremony at Valerie Hill Vineyard, Stephens City, Va.

The ceremony was officiated by Justice of the Peace Diane D. Cleveland.

The bride was given in marriage by her father.

Following the ceremony, the couple welcomed family and friends at a reception at Piccadilly Restaurant in Winchester.

The Tamaqua High School Class of 1965 will meet on Jan. 25 to begin planning for a 50th anniversary reunion.

The meeting will be held at 2:30 p.m. at DiMaggio's La Dolce Casa on West Broad Street in Tamaqua.

All class members are welcome to attend.

Taryn Solt and Justin Petersen

The engagement of Taryn Solt to Justin Petersen, both of Palmerton, has been announced by their parents.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Dean and Wanda Solt of Palmerton. She is a 2012 graduate of Lock Haven University where she earned a bachelor of science in psychology. She is currently a graduate student at LaSalle University where she is working toward a master of arts in professional clinical counseling.

She expects to graduate in May.

Announcement has been made of the engagement of Kaitlyn A. Price, daughter of David J. and Ann M. Price of Tamaqua, and Thomas J. Rossochacy Jr. of Tuscarora, son of Thomas J. Rossochacy Sr., of Pottsville, and Lynne M. Wertman of Tamaqua.

The bride-elect is a 2004 graduate of Tamaqua Area High School and a 2008 graduate of the physical therapy assistant program at Lehigh Carbon Community College.

She is employed by Physical Therapy Associates of Hometown and Our Family Mini Market in Tamaqua.

Walter Woods

Walter Woods, a resident at Heritage Hill Senior Community, Weatherly, is celebrating his 93rd birthday. He was born on Jan. 17, 1921 in Patterson, N.J. He was the son of the late Walter Woods and Jean Johnson.

He graduated from Hawthorne High School in 1939 and enlisted in the Air Corps. He served as a pilot during World War II and received a number of combat medals including: American Theater Medal, Air Medal with three Oak Clusters, Distinguished Flying Cross, European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Medal and Good Conduct Medal.

When Jayne Myers was born on Jan. 8, 1914, Woodrow Wilson was president, Babe Ruth had played his first game for the Red Sox, and Charlie Chaplin had starred in his first film, "Making a Living."

A century later, Meyers' eyes are a steady and impish blue. She's wearing blue jeans and boots, and a stylish green jacket.

Tamaqua Adult Day Care Center facility director Darlene Smith and program assistant Ginny Woodward ready her for a picture with her birthday cake, but she laughs as they smooth her hair.

Meredith Hennessy, daughter of John and Margaret Hennessy of Minneapolis, Minn. was united in marriage to Christopher Bryfogle, son of Gary Bryfogle and Cathy and Gary Fies of Lehighton, on Aug. 30, 2013 at the Nicollet Island Pavilion in Minneapolis.

The ceremony took place at dusk, overlooking the Mississippi River and downtown Minneapolis skyline.
