Agnes Brogan

Agnes Brogan, a resident at Heritage Hill SeniorCommunity, Weatherly, is celebrating her 99thbirthday.

Agnes was born inEckley on March 29, 1916. She is the daughter of the late John and Katherine Gaffney. Katherine was from Wilkes-Barre and John was from Ireland.

Agnes had five brothers and four sisters. She is the last of her immediate family.

Christine Yanek

Christine Yanek, a guest at Heritage Hill Senior Community in Weatherly, is celebrated her 90th birthday on March 30.

She was married to Bernard J. Yanek for 54 years before his death in 2001.

Christine has threechildren, Donna Murmello, Bernadette Brasavage and John Yanek.

She has nine grand-children and seven great-grandchildren.

She enjoyed her work in the Hazleton General Hospital dietary department until her retire-ment.

Her hobbies include cooking, baking andcrocheting.

Dustin Roth and Jill Andrews

The engagement of Jill K. Andrews of Jim Thorpe and Dustin Roth of Lehighton has been announced by their parents.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Jason and Pearl Sheckler of Jim Thorpe. She is a 2010 graduate of Jim Thorpe Area High School.

She is currently enrolled at LCCC and will graduate in 2016 with a degree in business management.

She is currently employed at Atlantic Home Loans of Bethlehem.

The prospective bridegroom is the son of Jeff and Sandie Roth of Lehighton. He is a 2007 graduate of Lehighton Area High School.

Mark Stevens and Jennifer Arner

The engagement of Jennifer Pamela Arner of Fairfax, Virginia, and Mark Alastair Stevens, also of Fairfax, was announced by her parents.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Dr. Kirk and Pamela Arner of Lehighton.

She is a 2007 graduate of Lehighton Area High School and a 2011 graduate of Muhlenberg College. She graduated from George Mason University-School of Law in 2014.

She was admitted to the Virginia State Bar in December and is currently a law clerk to a judge of the Fairfax Circuit Court in Virginia.

Lillian Sally Popek

Lillian Sally Popek of Jim Thorpe celebrated her 90th birthday last month.

She was born on Feb. 8, 1925.

Lillian was the guest of honor at a birthday party given by her children at Dom 'n Ali's Steak and Seafood Restaurant.

Lillian is the wife of Theodore S. Popek Sr.

Together they have five children: two daughters and three sons.

On her special day Lillian was surrounded by her family, daughters Mary Katherine McHugh and Cyrillia Gavornik, and sons Ted Jr., Tim and Terry Popek and spouses.

Carrie Deebel.

Carrie Deebel, a resident at Bachert's Victorian Manor in Lehighton, is celebrating her 100th birthday.

Carrie was born in Ringtown on March 22, 1915.

She was married to Allen Deebel on June 17, 1934.

She has two children: Jean Lorah of Center Valley, and Jim Deebel of Lehighton.

She also has a sister, Dorthy Zimmerman of Ohio.

Carrie has six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She enjoyed quilting and baking and still loves to read and play Parcheesi.

A party in her honor will be held at the Beaver Run Rod and Gun Club.

Ronin Scott Sedam

A son, Ronin Scott Sedam, was born at 6:29 a.m. Jan. 18, 2015, in Chicago, Illinois, to Nicole and Conor Sedam of Chicago.

He weighed 8 pounds, 7 ounces, and measured 21 inches long.

Maternal grandparents are Ronald and LaRae Hlavaty of Lehighton.

Paternal grandparents are Scott and Jana Sedam of Novi, Michigan.

The engagement of Jennifer Bensinger of Tamaqua, and Lamonte Schock, also of Tamaqua, has been announced by her parents.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of David and Margaret Bensinger of Tamaqua.

She is a 2005 graduate of Tamaqua Area High School, and a 2009 graduate of East Stroudsburg University.

She is employed as a teacher in the Panther Valley School District.

The prospective bridegroom is the son of Bruce Schock and Cynthia Dunkle of Tamaqua.

He is a 2003 graduate of Tamaqua Area High School.

He is currently employed at KME.

KAREN CIMMS/TIMES NEWS Hilda Guedes is celebrating her 100th birthday today.

Hilda Guedes, formerly of Palmerton, is celebrating her 100th birthday today.

Hilda was born Ildebranda Rosa Bernardo on March 5, 1915, in Silves Algarve, Portugal. She was married to Agostinho Guedes, a former prizefighter, for 52 years. Agostinho died in 1995.

The couple came to live in the United States in 1947, but enjoyed visits to friends and family in Portugal every summer during their marriage.
