The 94th Gerber/Garber family reunion will be held on Saturday, Aug. 14, at the West Penn Community Park near Snyders (located off Route 309 about eight miles south of Tamaqua). All descendants of Henry and Magdalena (Dietrich) Gerber and their 12 children are welcome to attend. Henry Gerber is the progenitor of the West Penn Township Gerber/Garbers, settling in the township in the late 1790s. A genealogist will be on hand to answer questions.

The S.S. Palmer High School Class of 1943 is planning its 67th year reunion on Saturday, Sept. 11. Members, spouses, children, grandchildren, etc., are welcome.

Meet at Bert's Restaurant at noon. They will order from the house menu, rather than having a previously chosen dinner. Please let a reunion committee member know that you plan to attend, so they can notify Bert's of the number of people expected.

Mr. and Mrs. Donald Curran

Jessica Musick, daughter of Stephen and Brenda Musick of Anchorage, Alaska; and Donald Curran, son of James and Lynette Curran of Jim Thorpe, were united in marriage on July 20, 2010 at Immaculate Conception in Jim Thorpe.

The Rev. James Ward officiated the double ring ceremony.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride chose Chasity Custer of San Antonio, Texas, as the maid of honor.

Mr. and Mrs. Daniel J. Derr

Tara Joy Kocher, daughter of Paul and Vicky Kocher of Lehighton, and Daniel John Derr, son of the late Franklin and Deborah Derr, were wed on June 26, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lehighton.

The Rev. Robert VonFrisch and the Rev. Guy Grube officiated at the double ring ceremony. Dwight Weaver was the organist while Brian Hoffner was the vocalist.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride chose her sister, Dawn Mriss, Lehighton, as matron of honor. Stephanie Ahner, Lehighton, was a bridesmaid. Brynn Mriss, the bride's niece, was the flower girl.

Erin Shober and Terry Bonner

Mr. and Mrs. James J. Shober of Summit Hill announce the engagement of their daughter Erin, to Terry Bonner of Nesquehoning.

The bride-to-be is a graduate of East Stroudsburg University and is currently employed as a teacher at Panther Valley Elementary School.

The prospective bridegroom is a graduate of Kutztown University and is employed as a teacher at Panther Valley Middle School.

A June 2011 wedding is planned.

Dan Wechsler and Jenna Kuder

The engagement of Jenna Kuder to Dan Wechsler has been announced by their parents.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Russell and Susan Kuder of Lehighton. She is a 2006 graduate of Mansfield University. She is employed as a manager at Claire's.

The prospective bridegroom is the son of Ken and Liz Wechsler of Coplay. He is a graduate of Temple University and the University of Dayton School of Law. He is employed by Amato and Associates.

A wedding is being planned for April 2012.

Anna Kitchko

Anna Kitchko a resident at Weatherwood, formerly of Nesquehoning, celebrated her 95th birthday on July 11.

She is the widow of Samuel Kitchko who passed away in 1965. She has a daughter, Judith, of Nesquehoning, and a son, Sam, who also resides in Nesquehoning with his wife Michele. Anna has two grandchildren: Michael of Feasterville, and Samantha, wife of Nino Logan of Virginia Beach, Va. and a great grandson Xander Logan.

A family celebration was held in her honor at the pavilion at Weatherwood.

Owen Stephen Ruch

RUCH A son, Owen Stephen Ruch, was born at 1:28 p.m. on April 21, 2010 at St. Luke's, Allentown, to Lyndsey Kunkel and Matthew Ruch of New Ringgold.

He weighed 8 pounds and measured 21.5 inches.

Maternal grandparents are Renee Kunkel, Tamaqua, and the late Stephen Kunkel.

Paternal grandparents are Carl and Charlene Ruch of New Ringgold.

Maternal great-grandparents are Donald and Diana Kunkel of Tamaqua and Marie Mistal of Tamaqua.

Owen was baptized at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tamaqua on June 13.
