Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Dovale

Tara McArdle and Oscar Dovale were united in marriage on July 31, 2010, at the basilica of Santa Luzia in Viana do Castelo, Portugal, in a double ring ceremony.

The daughter of George and Jane Culver of Jim Thorpe, and William McArdle, also of Jim Thorpe, the bride was given in marriage by her mother.

Her sister, Lisa Butrymowicz of Little Egg Harbor Township, N.J. was the matron of honor. The bridegroom's sister, Ema Paula Dovale of Lanheses, was a bridesmaid.

Emma (Smith) Brown

Emma (Smith) Brown, a resident of the Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, celebrated her 100th birthday on Tuesday, with a party attended by family and friends.

Brown was born Nov. 16, 1910 in Little Gap and grew up in Stroh's Valley. She attended school in one-room school houses.

She was married to Allen Samuel Brown, raising three stepchildren and a son, David.

Along with being a homemaker, she helped on the family farm and also was housekeeper for several clients. She also worked in a dress factory for 2 1/2 years.

Mr. and Mrs. Gene Borger

Gene and Sandy Borger of Kresgeville celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Oct. 29.

Mr. Borger is the son of the late Leroy and Esther (Buskirk) Borger. Mrs. Borger is the daughter of the late William Getz and Madalyn (Griffith) Getz.

A surprise party was hosted in their honor by their children, with 90 guests and family members enjoying an evening of dinner and dancing.

The Borgers have two children: a daughter, Donna Diehl, wife of Chip; and a son, Douglas Borger, and his fiancee Arlene Dunkleberger, all of Kunkletown.

Tamara Rogers and Matthew Tirpak

The engagement of Tamara Rogers, Coaldale, to Matthew Tirpak, also of Coaldale, has been announced by the couple's parents.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Melissa and Robert MacDonald of Lansford, and Todd Rogers Sr. of Coaldale.

She is a 2004 graduate of Panther Valley High School and is employed by Hiles Bros.

The prospective bridegroom is the son of Thomas and Janel Tirpak of Summit Hill.

He is a 2002 graduate of Panther Valley High School. He is employed by the family business, Northeast Chemical & Supply.

Mr. and Mrs. Jeremy M. LaClair

Keri Sue Harris, daughter of Peggy Sue O'Donnell of Jim Thorpe and George and Patricia Harris of Lehighton, and Jeremy LaClair, son of Phil and Jill LaClair of Evans Mills, N.Y., were united in marriage on Sept. 18, 2010 at Immaculate Conception Church in Jim Thorpe. The Rev. James Ward officiated at the double ring ceremony. Karen Horvath was the organist, while the bride's aunt, Tracy-Jo Strohl of Poughkeepsie, was the vocalist.

Mr. and Mrs. Duane A. Dellecker

Mr. and Mrs. Duane A. Dellecker of Lehighton recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary.

They were married on Nov. 9, 1985 at Hope Lutheran Church in Cherryville by the Rev. Hiburger.

Mrs. Dellecker is the former Barbara A. Love. She is employed as a materials management coordinator for Life Quest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Quakertown.

Mr. Dellecker is the director of Carbon County's Department of Solid Waste.

The Delleckers are the parents of two daughters: Ami Fritchlee, wife of Matthew Fritchlee, and Ashley Dellecker-Exner, all of Lehighton.

Mr. and Mrs. Matthew T. Fritchlee

Ami N. Dellecker, daughter of Duane and Barbara Dellecker of Lehighton, became the bride of Matthew T. Fritchlee, son of Theodore and Kelly Fritchlee of Bath on Oct. 29, 2010 at the Maymont Plantation, Richmond, Va.

The Honorable Ernest Irbe officiated at the double ring ceremony.

The bride was given in marriage by her father.

Jennifer Berry was the maid of honor and Tyler Berger was the best man.

Following the ceremony, the couple held a dinner reception with family and friends in Williamsburg, Va., followed by a honeymoon in Williamsburg.

Kailyn Elizabeth Smith

A daughter, Kailyn Elizabeth Smith, was born at 9:18 p.m. on Oct. 12, 2010 at the Lehigh Valley Health Network, Allentown, to Vanessa and Jeremy Smith of Lehighton.

She weighed 6 pounds, 13 ounces and measured 20 inches long. She was welcomed home by her older brother, Wyatt, 3.

Maternal grandparents are Linda and Marty Klotz of Lehighton. Paternal grandparents are Cindy and David Smith, also of Lehighton.

Maternal great-grandmother is Mildred Miller of Lehighton. Paternal great-grandparents are Thelma Smith, Lehighton, and Gladys and Orville Wehr of Andreas.
