Mr. and Mrs. Maurice "Marty" Kunkel

Mr. and Mrs. Maurice "Marty" Kunkel of Weatherly celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Aug. 12.

The couple was married in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, White Haven, by the late Rev. William Geiger.

Members of their wedding party were Mary (Avilla) Carter, matron of honor; Marjorie Lou (Kocher) Anthony, and the late Nancy (Ely) Luppold, bridesmaids. The late Clyde Kunkel was best man and ushers were the late Charles Gicking and William Kunkel.

Karen (Kocher) Allen was the flower girl and the late John "Jackie" Schafer was ring bearer

Mr. and Mrs. G. Thomas Wargo

Mr. and Mrs. G. Thomas Wargo of Palmerton are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married Aug. 20, 1960 at Sacred Heart Church in Palmerton by the Rev. George E. Uricheck.

Mrs. Wargo is the former Annette Halmi, daughter of the late John and Helen Halmi of Palmerton. Mr. Wargo is the son of Sophie Wargo and the late George Wargo, also of Palmerton.

Mrs. Wargo was formerly employed as a registered nurse at Palmerton Hospital. Mr. Wargo was employed as a teacher and coach for Palmerton Area School District before his retirement.

Heather DeLauretis and Jeffrey Zazycki

Larry and Ann Marie DeLauretis of Tamaqua have announced the engagement of their daughter, Heather, to Jeffrey Zazycki, son of Raymond and Dorothy Zazycki of Drums.

The bride-elect is a 2005 graduate of Tamaqua Area High School and earned a bachelor of science degree in education from Bloomsburg University.

Her fiance is attending Lehigh Carbon Community College, working toward a degree in food production and management.

The couple is planning a May 19, 2012 wedding.

Dylan Adolph Benulis

BENULIS A son, Dylan Adolph Benulis, was born at 11:19 p.m. on July 10, 2010 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown to Aimee (Boyle) and Steve Benulis of Schuylkill Haven.

He weighed 8 pounds, 5 ounces and measured 20 inches long.

Dylan was welcomed home by his older sister Allie Elise, 3.

Maternal grandparents are Tom and Jane Boyle of Tamaqua.

Paternal grandparents are Gene and Betty Benulis of New Philadelphia.

Maternal great-grandparents are Ruth and Adolph Zelonis of Tamaqua; and Joseph and Julie Boyle of Coaldale.

Ryan Shupp and Lori Hrebik

The engagement of Lori Hrebik, Nesquehoning, to Ryan Shupp, Palmerton, has been announced by her parents, Eugene and Barbara Hrebik of Nesquehoning.

The bride-to-be is a 1994 graduate of Panther Valley High School and also of the Carbon County Area Vocational Technical School, where she earned and currently holds a license in cosmetology.

She is employed by PenTeleData, Palmerton, in the billing department.

The prospective bridegroom is the son of Colleen Bleiler, Slatington, and the late Charles Shupp Jr. He is a 1992 graduate of Palmerton High School.

Brody James Kantor

A son, Brody James Kantor, was born to Courtney A. Bruno and Stephen M. Kantor of Tamaqua, on April 29, 2010, at 5:35 p.m. in St. Luke's Hospital, Allentown. He weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces, and measured 20 inches long.

He was welcomed home by his two older siblings, Kyle and Michael Kantor.

Maternal grandparents are John and Michele Bruno of Summit Hill.

Paternal grandparents are Richard Kantor of Tamaqua and Kathryn Nunemacher, also of Tamaqua.

Mr. and Mrs. Barry Christman

Connie Ann Blauch of Lehighton became the bride of Barry James Christman on May 22, 2010 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Mahoning.

The Rev. Dody S. Siegfried officiated the double ring ceremony. Colleen Rudelitsch was the organist.

Given in marriage by her son, Michael Shupp, the bride chose Sheila Knappenberger and Shawn Everett as matrons of honor.

The best man was Jeremy Everett.

Ushers were the couple's children: Michael Shupp, Matthew Shupp, Joseph Blauch, Luke Blauch, Cole Christman and Cameron Christman.
