Mr. and Mrs. Herbert W. Curvey

Mr. and Mrs. Herbert W. Curvey of 118 Clay St., Tamaqua, are celebrating their 60 wedding anniversary today, Sept. 2. They were married in Trinity Evangelical and Reformed Church, Tamaqua, by the Rev. John A. Kleinginna.

Mrs. Curvey is the former Evelyn Betz, daughter of the late John and Bertha Betz. Mr. Curvey is the son of the late Jacob and Mabel Curvey.

Sausanie Ramos and Michael Kitchko

Sam and Michele Kitchko of Nesquehoning announce the engagement of their son, Michael, to Saunsanie Ramos, daughter of Sally Graves and John and Maria Ramos of Dunkirk, N.Y.

The prospective bridegroom is a 2003 graduate of Lehigh University, where he earned a degree in chemical engineering. He is employed by the Dow Chemical Company, supporting a production facility in Philadelphia and an expansion project in Northern Italy.

Mary (Mazurick) Kapish

Mary (Mazurick) Kapish, a resident at Heritage Hill Senior Community in Weatherly, celebrated her 97th birthday on Sunday.

Born on Aug. 29, 1913 in Mahanoy City, she also resided in West Hazleton and Hazleton Heights.

She was married to her husband, Andrew Kapish for 49 years until his passing in 1981. They had one son, Calvin "Jackie" Kapish who passed away in 2001.

A 70th Anniversary Reunion Picnic was held Aug. 21 by the Class of 1940 of Tamaqua High School. Carl Hafer hosted an old-fashioned picnic at the Knights of Columbus, Coaldale. Fourteen class members and 25 guests attended. Classmates attending were, seated from left, Margaret Demichele Mettenet, Harrisburg; Julia Constantine Quici, Berwin; Ruth Deem Brown, Tamaqua; Fern Clemson Kelton, New Town Square; and Fern DeArmit Edwards, Lake Milton, Ohio.

Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Scarpati

Veronica Tripaldi, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Tripaldi, Jr. of Walnutport; and Jerome F. Scarpati, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerome P. Scarpati of Jim Thorpe, were united in marriage on June 19, 2010 at Immaculate Conception Church in Jim Thorpe.

The Rev. James Ward, Msgr. John Chizmar and the Rev. Terry Devino officiated the double ring ceremony.

Kristine Betz was the organist, while Penn Strings provided violin and cello accompaniment. Jeanette Richards and Daniel Marx were the soloists.

Jenyne Scarpati, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerome P. Scarpati of Jim Thorpe, became the bride of Robert Paul Podlinski Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Podlinski Sr., of Cherry Hill, N.J. on Sept. 26, 2009 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jim Thorpe.

Monsignor John Chizmar and the Rev. James Ward concelebrated the double ring ceremony.

Kristine Betz was the organist, while Darryl Seiwell played the trumpet and Debra Reilly played the violin. Jeanette Richards was the soloist.

Isabella Lucia Rose D'Ancona

A daughter, Isabella Lucia Rose D'Ancona, was born at 12:42 p.m. on June 5, 2010, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown, to Regina Marie (Turner) and Marco D'Ancona of, Nesquehoning. She weighed 6 pounds, 13 ounces and was 19.25 inches long.

Isabella was welcomed home by her older siblings, Agostino, 11; and Vincenzo, 10.

Maternal grandparents are Mary Ann Bubon, Tamaqua; and Victor and Elaine Turner of Jim Thorpe.

Paternal grandmother is Lucia D'Ancona of Lansford.

Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Santore

Janel Semmel, daughter of Ron and Diane Semmel of Lehighton, became the bride of Phillip Santore of Lehighton, son of Angelo Santore Sr. and Christine Santore of Nesquehoning, on July 9, 2010 at Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic in a double ring ceremony.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride chose her sister, Gina Nailor, as matron of honor.

Angelo Santore Jr., brother of the bridegroom, served as best man. Ring bearers were Mitchell and Mason Nailor.
