Elliot Grace Goddard

GODARD A daughter, Elliot Grace Godard, was born at 9:59 a.m. July 2, 2014, in New Britain, Connecticut, to Megan Smith Godard and Brian Godard of Bristol, Connecticut.

She weighed 7 pounds, 10 ounces, and measured 20 inches long.

Maternal grandparents are David and Nancy Smith of Lehighton.

Paternal grandparents are Robert and Carolyn Godard of Cheshire, Connecticut.

Mr. and Mrs. Jerry George

Emily and Jerry George recently celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary.

They were married Sept. 29, 1984, at Jerusalem Lutheran Church in Trachsville, by the late Rev. John Light.

Jerry and Emily are owners of New Lawn & Landscaping in Palmerton.

An anniversary dinner given by their children and grandchildren, along with family and friends, was held at the Palmerton Rod & Gun Club.

They also plan to take a vacation trip to Key West to celebrate.

Mr. and Mrs. Gary Smudin of Quakake are celebrating their 39th wedding anniversary. They were married Oct. 4, 1975 by the Rev. Ernest Houston at Christ Lutheran Church in Barnesville.

Mrs. Smudin is the former Shirley Neifert, daughter of the late Grace (Hinkle) and Elden Neifert of Quakake. Her husband is the son of the late Gladys (Lewis) and Algerd Smudin of Tamaqua.

They have three daughters: Jamie, wife of Kory Beidleman of Clamtown; Leslie, wife of Ryan Keefer of Cressona; and Tracy, wife of Damien Earhart of Quakake.

Jim Thorpe High School Class of 1964 gathered Sept. 18 at the Mahoning Valley Country Club to celebrate its 50-year reunion. Thirty-five members attended.

The 50th anniversary reunion of the Tamaqua Area High School Class of 1964, was held Sept. 7 at Capriotti's in McAdoo.

The invocation was offered by the Rev. Robert Smith. Master of ceremonies Theodore Hafer welcomed the 84 classmates and guests present. The class toast was given by Richard Arculin and the Rev. Franklin Schock offered the benediction.
