Theresa E. DeVaney and Eric P. Schaffer

The engagement of Theresa Elizabeth DeVaney to Eric Paul Schaffer, has been announced by her parents.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Joseph and Carol DeVaney, Bloomsburg. She is a 2002 graduate of Central Columbia High School, and a 2007 graduate of Shippensburg University, where she received a bachelor of science in criminal justice.

She is employed at the Domestic Violence Service Center, Wilkes-Barre, as a legal advocate.

Macoy Wells Kmetz

A son, Macoy Wells Kmetz, was born at 2:48 a.m. on Oct. 6, 2010 at Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest, to Tanya L. Perry and Michael Wells Kmetz of Jim Thorpe.

He weighted 8 pounds, 14 ounces, and measured 21 inches long.

Maternal grandparents are Patricia A. Perry of Bradenton, Fla., and Ronald E. Perry of Jim Thorpe.

Paternal grandparents are Natalie and Jack Kmetz of Jim Thorpe.

Michael Nestor Jepko

Michael Nestor Jepko, a resident at Heritage Hill Senior Community in Weatherly, celebrated his 90th birthday on Oct. 30.

Born in Coaldale in 1920, Michael has also resided in Omaha, Neb. and Weatherly.

He worked on the railroad prior to going into the service. He served in the United States Army from 1939 until 1949.

He also worked for Mengle Coal & Oil for 34 years.

He was married to his wife, Mary Agnes for 41 years until her passing in 1986.

He has three children, Michael, Weatherly; Joann Keys, Maryland; and Mary Lou Cookson, Illinois.

Mr. and Mrs. Sherwood Green

Mr. and Mrs. Sherwood Green of Palmerton celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Oct. 28. Mrs. Green is the former Irene Mohr.

They were married in the Lutheran Church in Slatington.

They have six children, Sherwood A. and his wife, Robyn, of Palmerton; Sharon A. Steigerwalt and her husband, Michael, of Bowmanstown; Amy Sander and her husband, Jeff, of Bowmanstown; Leeanne Samok and her husband, Mike, of Palmerton; Donna McGarry, and her husband, Phil, of Lehighton; and Renee Costenbader, and her husband, David, of Palmerton.

Ty Michael Williams

A son, Ty Michael Williams, was born at 3:37 p.m. on Sept. 22, 2010 at St. Luke's Hospital, Allentown, to Lauren and David Williams of Summit Hill.

He weighed 4 pounds, 13 ounces and measured 17.5 inches long.

Maternal grandparents are Bill and Donna Jones of Summit Hill.

Paternal grandparents are Art and Mary Williams, Lansford.

Maternal great-grandmother is Helen Jones of Lansford.

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph J. Semuta

Susanne Kane, daughter of David and Patricia Holmes of Hometown, and the late James Kane, Tamaqua, became the bride of Joseph Jeffrey Semuta, son of Joseph and Mary Alyce Semuta of Hazleton on July 2, 2010 in an outdoor ceremony at the Stroudsmoor Country Inn, Stroudsburg.

Officiating the double ring ceremony was the Rev. Bob Amundsen. A brass quintet, led by Brian Shughart, provided music for the ceremony.

Given in marriage by her mother, the bride chose Cara (Griffin) Ruggeri of Coopersburg as her matron of honor.

The Palmerton Area High School Class of 1985 is holding a 25-year reunion on Saturday, Nov. 27 from 6-11 p.m. at the Blue Ridge Country Club, Palmerton.

Dinner will be buffet-style. Reservations must be made by Nov. 1.
