Nicholas J. Collura and Kaitlin M. Reilly

Kaitlin M. Reilly, of Jim Thorpe, and Nicholas J. Collura, of Nesquehoning, have announced their engagement.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Michael and Debra Reilly of Jim Thorpe. She is a 2005 graduate of Jim Thorpe Area High School, and a 2008 graduate of Muhlenberg College, where she earned a bachelor's degree in biochemistry.

She is currently employed by the National Institute on Aging in Baltimore, Md. This fall she will attend Temple University School of Medicine for a M.D./Ph.D. degree.

When a beautifully decorated cupcake with a candle was placed in front of Sophie Sroka, her response was an enthusiastic, "Oh Baby!"

Sophie celebrated her 90th birthday on April 20 at the Blue Mountain Health System Adult Day Services in Palmerton.

Sophie was a bartender with her late brother, Teddy Kosciolek, at Kasmers Bar in Lansford for many years, beginning in the 1940s.

She and her late husband, Joe, were one of the first pioneers of Lake Hauto, where she still has her home.

Brandi Steigerwalt and Timothy Kernag

The engagement of Brandi Steigerwalt, Tamaqua, to Timothy Kernag, also of Tamaqua, has been announced by their families.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Alan and Lori Steigerwalt of Andreas. She is a 2003 graduate of Tamaqua Area High School.

The prospective bridegroom is the son of Robert and Debra Kernag of Hunlock Creek. He is a 2001 graduate of Lake Lehman High School.

A wedding date has been set for September of 2012.

Mr. and Mrs. Michael Taras

Mr. and Mrs. Michael Taras of Lansford are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary today.

They were married on April 30, 1960 at St. John's Greek Catholic Church, Lansford, by the Rev. Michael Morris.

Mrs. Taras is the former Joann Terry, daughter of the late Jacob and Mary Terry of Coaldale.

Mr. Taras is the son of the late John and Anna Taras of Coaldale.

The couple are the parents of three children, Michael Taras and his wife Linda of Gitmo, Cuba, Mark Taras and his wife Michelle of Lansford, and Matthew Taras and his wife Lori of Nesquehoning.

Salvatore and Ursula Digiglio of Nesquehoning recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

The couple was married on April 23, 1960 in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church by the late Monsignor Angello J. Angellini.

Salvatore, son of the late William Vito and Josephine Digiglio of Nesquehoning, is retired from Bethlehem Mines Corp. Ursula, daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Bochicchio of Nesquehoning, is a homemaker.

Tyler Cole Rudelitch

A son, Tyler Cole Rudelitch, was born at 1:15 p.m. on March 12, 2010 at Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest, to Lynn and Kristen Rudelitch of Kunkletown.

He weighed 8 pounds 10.6 ounces and measured 22 inches long.

He was also welcomed home by his big sister Alyssa, 4.

His maternal grandparents are Dave and Eva Graver of Walnutport.

His paternal grandparents are Gordon and Diane Rudelitch of Kunkletown.

Sherry and Arne Ostroff of Lancaster, Pa., announce the engagement of their daughter Jessica Anne to Christopher Scott, son of Joanne and William Scott Jr. of Lehighton.

The bride-to-be is a graduate of Towson University, where she earned a bachelor of science degree in mass communications. She is employed as a branch manager at the Fulton Bank in Lancaster. She is the granddaughter of the late Elaine and Herman Vernick and the late Bernice and Carl Ostroff.

Allen and Abigail Graver

St. Jerome's Catholic Church, Tamaqua, was the setting for the Dec. 5, 2009 wedding of Abigail Marie Knoblauch and Allen Graver Jr. The Rev. James Bechtel officiated at the ceremony.

The new Mrs. Graver is the daughter of Terry "Nails" and Lisa Knoblauch of Tamaqua. She earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education from King's College in 2009 and is employed by the Tamaqua Area School District as a substitute teacher and assistant junior varsity coach.
