Nadine Kokinda and Barry Pierce

Nadine Kokinda and Barry Pierce of Boyertown, Pa., along with their parents, have announced their engagement.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Andrew (Arty) Kokinda and Sonya Kokinda, both of Summit Hill. She is a 1998 graduate of Panther Valley High School.

A graduate of McCann School of Business & Technology, she is employed as a project manager at Sodexo, Allentown.

Natalie Alexandra Harris

Natalie Alexandra Harris was born April 1, 2011 to Heather Ann Harris of Mahanoy City. The new arrival was born at 8:15 a.m. in the Schuylkill Medical Center South, Pottsville.

She weighed in at 6 pounds, 8 ounces and measured 17 and 1/2 inches long.

She was welcomed home by her big brothers: Nicholas and Jason, both 6; and Seth, 5.

Maternal grandparents are Darrell Harris of Grier City and Christine Harris of Quakake. Great grandparents are Bob and Dolly Shirey of Barnesville.

The engagement of Debra J. Kehrli, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Solomon, Jim Thorpe, to James J. Evans Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. James Evans, Nesquehoning, has been announced by their parents and the bride-to-be's daughter, Bryanna Kehrli.

The bride-to-be is a 1991 graduate of Jim Thorpe Area High School. She is employed at the Hometown Nursing Home.

The prospective bridegroom is a 1988 graduate of Panther Valley High School and a 2001 graduate of Johnson College. He is employed at Kovatch Corp. as a machinist.

The engagement of Jennifer Franko, daughter of Guy and Lucille Franko of Jim Thorpe, to Ryan Dudek, son of Jerry and Sue Dudek of Auburn, N.Y., has been announced by her parents.

The bride-to-be is a graphic designer. Her fiance is a web designer.

A wedding is planned for this July.

Mary Kocher, a well-known local artist, recently celebrated her 90th birthday at a surprise party, given by her friends in the Carbon County Art League, and held at the home of Bill and Penny Allison.

The celebration was a first for Kocher.

"I couldn't believe it. It's the first party I've had in my 90 years," Kocher said. "We were matter of fact about such matters. We didn't have birthday parties. We were just busy with our lives."

Kocher grew up in Morgantown, W.V. As a child, she was immersed in art, as it was an interest of her parents and siblings.

Jodi Lee Arner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Arner, Palmerton, became the bride of Joshua Cory Smale, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Smale, also of Palmerton, on Oct. 9, 2010 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Palmerton.

The Rev. Jody Neifert performed the double ring ceremony. Randall Perry, Jim Thorpe, was the organist, while Yvonne Caton of Slatington and Lauren Strohl of Palmerton, were the vocalists.

Mr. and Mrs. Steven Bilous

Sierra Timbre Costello and Steven Bilous were married Sept. 18, 2010, by the Rev. Mark Smith at St. John's Episcopal Church, Carlisle.

The bride is the daughter of Dimps and Val Hawthorne of Dillsburg and Steve and Cathy Costello of Harrisburg. Her grandparents are the late Victor and Madalyn Bowman of Lehighton and Esteben and Marina Costello of Palmerton.

She is a 2004 graduate of Northern High School in Dillsburg and a 2008 graduate of Kutztown University. She is a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard since 2004.

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph J. Pavlik

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph J. Pavlik of Nesquehoning celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on April 8. They were married by the late Monsignor A.J. Angelini of the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in New Columbus.

Mrs. Pavlik is the former Theresa A. Kuzo, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Kuzo of New Columbus.

Mr. Pavlik is the son of the late Joseph A. and Anna Pavlik of Lansford.
