Walter Woods

Walter Woods, a resident at Heritage Hill Senior Community, Weatherly, is celebrating his 93rd birthday. He was born on Jan. 17, 1921 in Patterson, N.J. He was the son of the late Walter Woods and Jean Johnson.

He graduated from Hawthorne High School in 1939 and enlisted in the Air Corps. He served as a pilot during World War II and received a number of combat medals including: American Theater Medal, Air Medal with three Oak Clusters, Distinguished Flying Cross, European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Medal and Good Conduct Medal.

LISA PRICE/TIMES NEWS Jayne Myers of Tamaqua is celebrating a century of living.

When Jayne Myers was born on Jan. 8, 1914, Woodrow Wilson was president, Babe Ruth had played his first game for the Red Sox, and Charlie Chaplin had starred in his first film, "Making a Living."

A century later, Meyers' eyes are a steady and impish blue. She's wearing blue jeans and boots, and a stylish green jacket.

Tamaqua Adult Day Care Center facility director Darlene Smith and program assistant Ginny Woodward ready her for a picture with her birthday cake, but she laughs as they smooth her hair.

Meredith Hennessy, daughter of John and Margaret Hennessy of Minneapolis, Minn. was united in marriage to Christopher Bryfogle, son of Gary Bryfogle and Cathy and Gary Fies of Lehighton, on Aug. 30, 2013 at the Nicollet Island Pavilion in Minneapolis.

The ceremony took place at dusk, overlooking the Mississippi River and downtown Minneapolis skyline.

Mr. and Mrs. Dennis J. Serfass

Mr. and Mrs. Dennis J. Serfass recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married Dec. 21, 1963 at Grace Lutheran Church, Lehighton by the Rev. Allen Hanson.

Mrs. Serfass is the former Doris Blose, daughter of the late Melvin and Irene (Koch) Blose of Parryville. Her husband is the son of the late Russell and Lorraine (Clay) Serfass of Lehighton.

They have two children: a daughter, Lisa Haydt of Palmerton, and a son, Judge Steven R. Serfass, and his wife Jenny Cheng Serfass of Palmerton.

Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Tamaqua was the setting for the Sept. 7, 2013 wedding of Rebecca Sincavage, daughter of Charles and Denise Sincavage of Lake Hauto, and Daniel Hallowich, son of MaryGrace Hallowich of Mayfield and Stanley Hallowich Jr. of Jermyn. The double ring ceremony was conducted by the Rev. William Linkchorst. Susan Baddick presided at the organ.

Julia Rose Frace

A daughter, Julia Rose Frace, was born to Nicole and Theodore Frace of Walnutport at 1:21 a.m., on Dec. 18, 2013, in Lehigh Valley Hospital. She weighed 5 pounds, 13 ounces and measured 19.5 inches.

The new baby was welcomed home by her two siblings, Joslyn, 4; and Jordan, 2.

Maternal grandparents are Kate Lueders of Coaldale and Joe Otto of Tamaqua.

Paternal grandparents are Rodney Frace and Julie Ann Frace of Kunkletown.

Michael Brisbane and Amber Juracka

The engagement of Amber Juracka of Jim Thorpe, to Michael Brisbane, also of Jim Thorpe, has been announced by her father, William, and stepmother, Nancy, of Jim Thorpe.

The bride-to-be is a graduate of Temple University, where she received her bachelor's degree. She is pursuing a master's degree in counseling from Johns Hopkins University.
