Mr. and Mrs. Richard M. Ahner of Lehighton recently celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary. They were married in East Weissport by the Rev. Henry E. Samuels at St. Peter's E.C. Church on Oct. 9, 1965.

Mrs. Ahner is the former Barbara Hines, daughter of the late Clinton and Eva Hines. Mr. Ahner is the son of the late Willard and Beatrice Ahner of Long Run.

They are the parents of a son, Richard Jr., who passed away in 1997, and also a daughter, Wanda, and her friend, Henry Howell, of Mt. Pocono.

The Ahners have two grandsons: William (B.J.) Ahner and Tysiah Webb.

William Swenson Jr. and Jennel Yelito

William Swenson Jr. and Jennel Yelito, together with their families, have announced their engagement.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of David Yelito of Coaldale and Diane and Terry Miller of Nesquehoning. A graduate of Moravian College, she holds two master's degrees in education from Wilkes University.

She is employed by the Tamaqua Area School District, as a sixth-grade reading teacher and as head girls tennis coach.

Her fiance is the son of Maria and William Swenson of East Stroudsburg. He graduated from DeSales University with a degree in business management.

Edward Rummel of Tamaqua will observe his 88th birthday on Wednesday.

He is married to the former Dorothy Herring. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Oct. 21.

Ed is a son of the late Edward G. and Jennette Rummel and graduated from Tamaqua High School in 1944.

In 1945, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served as a radio operator on a tank assigned to the 67th Tank Battalion, 2nd Armored Division.

He spent more than two years in the European Theater of Operations and was awaiting transport to the Pacific theater when World War II ended.

Alexa Emery Becker

A daughter, Alexa Emery Becker, was born at 9:46 a.m. Sept. 12, 2014, at St. Luke's University Hospital, Bethlehem, to Stefanie and Michael Becker Jr. of Palmerton.

She weighed 7 pounds, 14 ounces, and measured 20 inches long.

She was welcomed home by an older brother, Colin Micah, who is 3 years old.

Maternal grandparents are Lois and Lewis Markley of Bowmanstown.

Paternal grandparents are Michael and Maryann Becker of Lansford.

Bronwyn Green and Austin Cseh

The engagement of Bronwyn Green to Austin Cseh has been announced by their parents.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Shawn and Nina Green of Palmerton. She is a graduate of Lock Haven University, where she studied health and physical education. She is employed as a health and physical education teacher at St. John Neumann Regional School.

The prospective bridegroom is the son of Steven and Kim Cseh of Palmerton. He is a graduate of Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology and is currently employed by the International Union of Bricklayers.
