Nicole D. Thomas and James A. Dunn

The engagement of Nicole Dubosky Thomas to James Adam Dunn has been announced by their parents.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Gar and Kim Thomas of Lake Hauto. She is a 2010 graduate of Tamaqua Area High School and will graduate from Cedar Crest College in May.

The prospective bridegroom is the son of James and Tammie Dunn of New Ringgold. He is a 2011 graduate of Tamaqua Area High School and is employed by Dunn's Pride Holsteins and Tree Farm.

The couple plans to marry in October of 2015.

Genevieve Skavery

Genevieve Skavery, a resident of Mt. Carmel Nursing Home, recently celebrated her 96th birthday. She was born on Jan. 26, 1918 to Stanley and Victoria Swatski of Mt. Carmel.

Genevieve and her husband Stanley, who worked as a coal miner, were married on June 17, 1939 at St. Stanislaus Church in Shenandoah.

Lehighton High School Class of 1965 will meet at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19 to begin planning the 50th anniversary reunion.

The breakfast meeting will be held at 443 Beacon Restaurant, Blakeslee Boulevard, Lehighton.

All class members are welcome to attend.

Sophia Naomi Shirvinski

A daughter, Sophia Naomi Shirvinski, was born at 12:19 p.m. on Jan. 9, 2014 at Lehigh Valley Hospital to Lisa and Jonathan Shirvinski of Tamaqua.

She weighed 7 pounds, 11 ounces and measured 21.5 inches long.

Maternal grandparents are Mahlon and the late Ruth Breiner of Tamaqua.

Paternal grandparents are Joseph and Rosemary Shirvinski of Barnesville.

Mr. and Mrs. Willard Creitz

Mr. and Mrs. Willard Creitz of Lehighton recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. They were married on April 1, 1944 by the Rev. George McKinley, rector of St. John's Episcopal Church in Palmerton. They were attended by Pauline Borger, sister of the bride and witnessed by the bride's mother, Susan Neff and the bridegroom's mother, Grace Creitz.

Mrs. Creitz is the former Dorothy Arlene Neff, daughter of the late George and Susan Neff. Her husband is the son of the late David and Grace Creitz.
