Michael Capita IV and Samantha Thomas

The engagement of Samantha Thomas and Michael Capita IV has been announced by their parents.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Kim and Gar Thomas of Lake Hauto.

She is a graduate of Tamaqua Area High School.

She earned a bachelor of science in education degree from Bloomsburg University.

She is currently employed as a global coordinator by Metso Minerals of Danville.

The prospective bridegroom is the son of Eleanor and Michael Capita III of Berwick.

He is a graduate of Berwick High School.

Louis Yelito and Elizabeth Hewitt

The engagement of Elizabeth Hewitt to Louis Yelito, both of Lake Hauto, Nesquehoning, has been announced by their parents.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Thomas Hewitt of Lake Hauto and the late Dianne Hewitt. She is a 2003 graduate of Tamaqua Area High School. She was previously employed at PPL in Hazleton, but is now a stay-at-home mother to son, Jager.

The prospective bridegroom is the son of Dave Yelito of Coaldale and Diane Miller of Lake Hauto.

He is a 2000 graduate of Tamaqua Area High School, and is employed as a contractor with Master Builders.

Edward Rummel of Tamaqua will observe his 88th birthday on Wednesday.

He is married to the former Dorothy Herring. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Oct. 21.

Ed is a son of the late Edward G. and Jennette Rummel and graduated from Tamaqua High School in 1944.

In 1945, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served as a radio operator on a tank assigned to the 67th Tank Battalion, 2nd Armored Division.

He spent more than two years in the European Theater of Operations and was awaiting transport to the Pacific theater when World War II ended.

SANZI A son, John Brayden Sanzi, was born at 11:19 a.m. Oct. 29, 2014, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville to John Sanzi and Paula Peregrin Sanzi of Hazle Township.

He weighed 6 pounds, 10 ounces and measured 20 inches long.

Maternal grandparents are the late Joseph and Dorothy (Franck) Peregrin of Hazleton.

Maternal grandparents are Lynn Sanzi and the late John Sanzi of Hazle Township.

The baby's great-grandmothers are Mary Leshko of Hazleton and Elizabeth Sanzi of Hazle Township.

Mr. and Mrs. Eugene F. Dougherty

Mr. and Mrs. Eugene F. Dougherty of Jim Thorpe recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married Oct. 17, 1964, at Immaculate Conception Church in Jim Thorpe. The Rev. Potts was the officiant.

Mrs. Dougherty is the former Margaret M. Haupt, daughter of the late Harry and Mabel Haupt of Jim Thorpe. Her husband is the son of the late Clyde and Mary Hill and Robert Dougherty, all of Jim Thorpe.
