Kimberly Rodgers and Trevor Kunkle

The engagement of Kimberly Rodgers, Lehighton, to Trevor Kunkle, also of Lehighton, has been announced by her parents.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Rhonda and Jack Weaver of Minersville. She is a 1995 graduate of Minersville High School. She is currently studying psychology at Axia University.

She is employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

The prospective bridegroom is the grandson of Perma and Donald Bloom of Lehighton. He is a 1990 graduate of Lehighton Area High School, and is a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Maria J. Martino and Brendan P. Whitfield

The engagement of Maria Joan Martino of Jim Thorpe to Brendan Paul Whitfield of Ashburn, Va. has been announced by their parents.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of John and Patricia Martino of Jim Thorpe. She is a 2005 graduate of Marian Catholic High School and a 2009 graduate of DeSales University, where she earned a bachelor of science in nursing.

She is employed as a critical care nurse in the Lehigh Valley.

William Valinch

William Valinch, currently residing in Sacramento Calif., recently celebrated his 103rd birthday.

Formerly of Rolling Mill Avenue in Tamaqua, "Bill" was born in Gilberton, Pa. on Dec. 22, 1908, to the late John and Margaret (Zerdgusky) Valinch. He was married to the former Julia McGee for 70 years.

He has two sons: William of North Huntington, Pa. and John of Carmichael, Calif. He also has two granddaughters and three great-granddaughters.

The Slatington High School Class of 1966 held its 45-year reunion on Saturday, Nov. 19 at the Emerald Fire Company. After a social hour, the class photo was taken by Fella Studios of Northampton, followed by dinner, then dancing with music provided by DJ Crazy K's Karaoke. Classmates attending were, front row from left, Bonnie (Roth) Smith, Kathy (Solt) Kemp, Jane (Jones) Distler, Gail (Kern) Skeath, Charlotte Hallman, Linda Boyer-Williams, Bonnie (Correll) Brozey, Beverly (Kistler) Scheffler, Mary (Gellis) Hoppes, Susan (Roth) Sensinger and Elizabeth (Roth) Krause.

Mark Luke DeMatto Jr.

A son, Mark Luke DeMatto Jr., was born at 3:42 a.m. on Jan. 20, 2012 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest Blvd., Allentown, to Trish and Mark DeMatto of Summit Hill.

He weighed 7 pounds, 5 ounces and measured 21 inches long.

Maternal grandparents are Ann and George Nalesnik of Nesquehoning. Paternal grandparents are Aurelia and Donald DeMatto of Summit Hill.

Maternal great-grandmother is Eileen Bonner of Nesquehoning.

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Tobia

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Tobia of Palmerton recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. They were married by the Rev. John Pavlosky on Jan. 14, 1972 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Palmerton.

Mrs. Tobia is the former Mary Cahoy, daughter of the late Frank and Frances Cahoy of Geddes, S.D. Her husband is the son of Ann Tobia and the late Steve Tobia of Palmerton.
