Joyce Lorraine Cunfer

Joyce Lorraine Cunfer is celebrating her 90th birthday.

She was born July 7, 1925, to David and Annie Olewine in Palmerton.

She married Charles "Chick" Cunfer on April 13, 1944, in Bowmanstown.

Joyce has two sons: David Cunfer, married to Bonnie Harley, and James Cunfer, married to Tami Cunfer.

She is blessed with two grandchildren: David and Robin, and seven great-grandchildren.

Joyce also has two grand-dogs (Buster and Lily) and a grand-cat (Lucky).

G. Michael Kovacs and Michele Hoffman

Michele Hoffman and G. Michael Kovacs of Palmerton have announced their engagement.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Hoffman of New Tripoli.

Her fiance is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Kovacs of Palmerton.

The couple are planning a wedding for Aug. 22 of this year.

The Lehighton High School Class of 1957 held its 58-year reunion June 20 at the Mahoning Valley Country Club. There were 46 in attendance. The class contributes $5,000 annually to a scholarship fund which is awarded to two seniors who are members of the graduating class, with $2,500 going to a senior boy and $2,500 to a senior girl who are continuing their education in a four-year college. The class has been doing this since 2007. Thosein attendance at the reunion include, front from left, Robert Bottcher, Maureen (McLaughlin) Markley, Nancy (Bray) Wolfe and Merle Wolfe.

GEORGE Ann Marie Hoffman and Richard Douglas George Sr. of Tamaqua welcomed a son to their family on June 8.

Richard Douglas George Jr. was born in the Pottsville Hospital, weighing in at 7 pounds. He was 20 inches long.

Paternal grandparents are Tracey George and Scott Neff. Maternal grandparents are Sue Hoffman and the late Robert C. Hoffman.

Great-grandparents are Edgar and Shirley Weber.

The new member of the family was welcomed home by a brother, Tony Claypoole.

Jay Stidham and Noelle Lesisko

The engagement of Noelle Lesisko of Tamaqua, and Jay Stidham, also of Tamaqua, has been announced by both of their parents.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Tom and Christine Lesisko of New Ringgold.

She is a 2009 graduate of Marian Catholic High School. She graduated from Misericordia University in 2013, earning her bachelor of arts in mathematics with certification in secondary education. She is currently pursuing her master's degree in online teaching.

She is employed as a high school math teacher in the Shenandoah Valley School District.

Mr. and Mrs. Donald A. Craig

Mr. and Mrs. Donald A. Craig of Kunkletown are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary.

They were married July 5, 1975, in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Palmerton by the Rev. James Laubach Sr.

Mrs. Craig is the former Shirley Meinhart, daughter of the late Elmer and Evelyn Meinhart of Kunkletown.

Mr. Craig is the son of the late Archie D. and Pauline Craig of Kunkletown.

The couple is retired. They are active members of Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Trachsville.
