Christmas bazaar in Weissport raises money for Shepherd’s Closet

The Shepherd’s Closet, a project of “The Gathering Place Mission,” has been holding a Christmas Bazaar and Flea Market throughout November and will continue Dec. 11 and 15 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. both days.

The tables were full of all sorts of bargains on Saturday; small kitchen appliances and cookware, dishes, decorative items, Christmas decorations, books, games and toys, and lots of clothing, shoes, boots, and accessories including jewelry.

According to the coordinator, Anita Wisler, the funds raised from these sales go to the maintenance and repairs at the Mission at 305 White St., Weissport.

“This is an opportunity to do some Christmas shopping,” she said.

“We have many wonderful things to buy, and people continue to donate items to us.”

The December sales will include a “Mitten & Hat Tree.” Each shopper will be welcome to select a free hat or a pair of mittens as they leave.

The Shepherd’s Closet is open the second Saturday and the third Wednesday of each month. The mission also operates a food pantry, plus they hold a free takeout meal on the fourth Saturday of each month from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at their location.
