Clam bake, pig roast scheduled by Bowmanstown F.D.

Members of the Bowmanstown Fire Company will be kept busy throughout the summer months with fund-raisers to help offset expenses.

Robert Spairana, trustee, mentioned they will start the month of July with a special adult event on July 13.Next on the agenda will be the first annual clam bake on Saturday, July 27. The bake starts promptly at 5 p.m. Local favorite, "The Captives" will provide music from 6-9 p.m.The bake will start at 7 p.m. Beverage is included. This will be held in the grove, just behind the fire company. The fire company hopes to attract at least 100 people for its first bake.To finish the summer off, the fire company will hold its first annual pig roast, Saturday, August 17. Similar to the clam bake, the pig roast will start at 5 p.m. with another favorite local band, "Screaming Sunday" from 6-9 p.m.The pig roast will be at 7 p.m. This event also will be held in the grove. The fire company hopes to attract 100 plus people so they may provide firefighting services for the residents of Bowmanstown and surrounding areas.The fire company's annual fund drive letter went out July 1 to over 700 residents and members. The annual fund drive is what helps the fire company get through the summer months to pay the annual cost of running its facility.As always, they are looking for new members; not just firefighters, but anyone who could help at fundraisers such as the above mentioned along with wing night, bingo and dances.For a full list of activities, visit bowmanstownfire.com, or on its face book page.
