Two people were injured Saturday afternoon when involved in a crash between their motorcycle and another vehicle. The crash occurred near 5 p.m. on Catawissa Road in Walker Township in front of Heisler's Dairy Bar. A male and female were aboard the bike. It was reported both victims may have received multiple fractures with the female being reported as eight weeks pregnant. The road was shut down to traffic. Gregory W. Ledford, 42, of Talking Rock, Georgia, sustained major injuries to his right leg in a three-vehicle crash at 2:44 p.m. Aug. 15 on Route 209 in Polk Township, according to state police at Lehighton. Police said he was transported by helicopter to the St. Luke’s Hospital-Bethlehem. One other person, Frank J. Passalacqua, 79, of Jim Thorpe, was injured in the crash. This is a story about how a group of wombats wound up in New Mexico. That’s the team nickname for a group of talented youngsters from Schuylkill County who last month won the state YHEC (Youth Hunter Education Challenge). YHEC is a competitive sporting activity for youths 10-18 (10-14 junior division, 15-18 senior division), who are mentored in shooting, learning about wildlife and spending time in the outdoors.
