One month after an acid-tossing spree in Tamaqua, vandals have struck again, damaging parked cars in the North Ward section of the community. But this time the spree took place on a different street from the August incident. Police are investigating an act of vandalism that took place either late Friday night or early Saturday morning in which seven or more vehicles on the 200 block of West Rowe Street were splattered with a caustic chemical. State police at the Lehighton barracks said six traffic stops have resulted in people being arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Four of the offenses took place on Tuesday, and the other two happened on Friday. The first incident on Tuesday happened at 7:37 p.m. at the intersection of Old Stagecoach and Gilbert roads in Polk Township. Mr. and Mrs. James Wentz of Lehighton are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. They were married in Zion United Church of Christ on Aug. 28, 1954, by the Rev. Alton Leister. Zoostock, an annual, one-day festival in Lansford that has morphed into one of the largest fundraising events in the area for the local chapter of the American Cancer Society, will be held Monday at the Sports Zoo/Halftime Sports Bar.
