MESHOPPEN, Pa. (AP) — Authorities in northeastern Pennsylvania say an all-terrain vehicle carrying four people struck a rock wall and rolled over, killing one of them. State police say the three others were injured in the accident Friday night in Auburn Township, Susquehanna County. Officials say 38-year-old Jeremy Mowry of nearby Meshoppen died of his injuries. Police haven't yet identified the cause of the crash.
State police at the Lehighton barracks said six traffic stops have resulted in people being arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Four of the offenses took place on Tuesday, and the other two happened on Friday. The first incident on Tuesday happened at 7:37 p.m. at the intersection of Old Stagecoach and Gilbert roads in Polk Township. Mr. and Mrs. James Wentz of Lehighton are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. They were married in Zion United Church of Christ on Aug. 28, 1954, by the Rev. Alton Leister.
