A Pennsylvania State Trooper is in critical condition after being struck along Interstate 81 near Frackville on Friday afternoon. According to the Republican Herald, Sgt. Robert E. Bemus, director of the Honors Camp at the state police academy in Hershey, was flown to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville just after 3 p.m. for head injuries after he was hit by an SUV while stopped to help a disabled vehicle at mile marker 121, near the Frackville exit in Schuylkill County.
A Schuylkill County driver escaped injury when her vehicle struck a deer along a Lehigh County road. State police at Fogelsville said Dedria A. Hartman was unable to stop and struck the deer with the front driver's side. Hartman was able to pull onto the berm of the road.
