Palmerton council honors high-achieving students

Five Palmerton High School seniors were recognized for their excellent academics along with school and community participation efforts during last week's borough meeting.

Resolutions were passed to commend the exemplary work of Nicole Andress, Johanna Matsko, Mercy Melo, Hailey Muniz and Tyra Wentz."Palmerton Area High School offers numerous extracurricular activities which give students the opportunity to provide services, participate in athletic competitions, and work with other students outside the learning arena; and being actively involved in school and community activities while carrying high academic honors is a feat opted and achieved by few students," Supervisor Richard Nothstein read. Each student received a plaque featuring the resolution, signed by council president Terry L. Costenbader, manager/secretary Rodger P. Danielson and Mayor Christopher D. Olivia.
