Tamaqua school board

Tamaqua Area School Board also approved the following action last week:

• The purchase of an integrated communication system for the high school at a cost not to exceed $150,000.

• The resignation of Kristine Betz as Drama Club Pit Band/Accompanist.

• Rebecca Kaufman as a full-time custodian.

• Jake Barron, Thomas Sommers and Arthur Lewis as substitute custodians.

• Lacey Haldeman and Roni Kass as professional substitute teachers.

• Christine D’Amato as a full-time paraprofessional.

• Barbara Schwartz as a substitute paraprofessional, and as a long-term substitute paraprofessional.

• Cody Mahon as a substitute paraprofessional.

• Emilie Baker, Alicia Murphy, and Pam Zelinsky, elementary teachers; Jim Betz, Sherri Gerber, and Stacy Setlock, high school teachers; Kaitlyn Collevechio, Caitlin Ligenza, speech therapists; as 2018 Extended School Year workers, at the rate of $25 per hour.

• Cindy Dover, Mary Hankey, Rebecca Hoffman, Ann Rose Ulinitz, full-time paraprofessionals; and Shaina Berezwick, Carole Blew, Kim Modesto, Fay Montgomery, Jennifer Puckette, Amy Gardiner and Hannah Murphy, part-time paraprofessionals; as 2018 Extended School Year Workers, at the current hourly rate.

• The transfer of $429,000 to the district’s capital reserve fund.

• A five-year agreement with King’s College for the purpose of student teaching and/or student practicum.

• Granted permission for AP biology students to attend Chincoteague Bay Field Station in Wallops Island, Virginia, for a two-day Marine Biology Program, April 29-May 1.

• Granted permission for the AP physics and physics classes to attend Six Flags Great Adventure, New Jersey, May 4, for the Annual Physics Day.
