Compassionate Care Hospice is hosting a "Celebration of Life: Butterfly Release Ceremony" on June 24 at the Carbon County Environmental Education Center in Summit Hill.

Daniel Miller, CCH liaison, said the free community event is open to the public and "gives the community an opportunity to come together to honor loved ones who have passed.""Releasing of the butterfly is a symbolic gesture and can help someone put their loved one's journey in perspective," Miller said.The event will begin at 11 a.m. with light refreshments to follow.A similar release was held at the CCEEC in 2013 and last year."It's a venue where people can talk to other people who have gone through the difficult time of losing a loved one," Miller said.To reserve a butterfly, call 610-770-6500 by June 12.Donations to the Compassionate Care Hospice Foundation will be accepted.A rain date is scheduled for June 25.
