Freezing rain and sleet expected Friday

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a winter weather advisory for the southern Poconos freezing rain and sleet, which is in effect from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday.

Ice accumulation is expected up to a few hundredths of an inch with less than a tenth of an inch of sleet accumulation.Precipitation is expected to move in shortly after sunrise, starting as a mix of freezing rain and sleet.As temperatures slowly increase through the morning, precipitation should change over to all rain by mid day.Icing may create slippery conditions on roads, bridges, and sidewalks.Winds are expected to be south at 5 to 10 mph with gusts up to 20 mph.Temperatures will start in the mid 20s increasing to mid 30s by mid day.
