Crashes investigated

State police at Lehighton reported investigating the following crashes.

A one-vehicle crash was reported at 9:49 p.m. Jan. 13 along Little Gap Road in Lower Towamensing Township, Carbon County. Jacob M. Horn, 21, of Danielsville, was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu westbound, just west of Hawks Farm Road, when he drove over a patch of ice causing him to lose control of the vehicle. The Malibu rotated on the road with the passenger side striking the end of a guide rail along the south berm. No injuries were reported.

A two-vehicle crash was reported at 3:39 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Route 534 and Bird Lane, in Polk Township, Monroe County. Troopers said Elaine R. Lewis, 49, of Plains, Luzerne County, was driving a 2013 Mazda 2 westbound on Bird Lane and approaching the intersection. She was traveling too fast for conditions, troopers said, and was unable to stop before entering the intersection with Route 534. Her vehicle then struck a 2005 Dodge Durango operated northbound on 534 by Michael L. Senavitis, 30, of Effort. The front of the Mazda hit the passenger side door of the Durango.

No one was injured. The Mazda was towed from the scene. Lewis was cited for driving a vehicle at an unsafe speed.
