Panther Valley FBLA members advance

Four members of the Panther Valley Future Business Leaders of America chapter are advancing to the Pennsylvania State Leadership Conference at the Hershey Lodge on April 2-5.

FBLA is a student-run organization that helps prepare students for the business world.The State Leadership Conference is one of the major events in the FBLA year in which members who qualify to attend participate in a variety of workshops throughout their two-day stay at Hershey, as well as attempt to advance further in their category of competition.Only those students’ scores on competitive tests or events at the regional level can advance to the state level.Those who placed in the regional level and will move on to Hershey are: Jenny Lin, first place, Business Calculations; Katlyn Reimer, first place, Personal Finance; Jocilyn Steigerwalt, fifth place, Business Calculations; and Mercedes Weaver, fifth place, Business Communications.This is only the fourth year for the PV FBLA chapter and students have qualified to compete at the state level every year.Panther Valley had 23 members compete at the Regional Leadership Conference, which has 700 members within Regional 21.To offset costs for the conference, the FBLA will be holding its fourth annual spaghetti and meatball dinner and basket rafflefrom 4 to 7 p.m. on March 25at the Panther Valley Intermediate School.Takeouts are available.If anyone would be interested in donating a basket or gift card to the raffle or make a monetary donation, they can do so by mailing or bringing it to Panther Valley Jr./Sr. High School, attention, Susan Solt, adviser, 912 Coal Region Way, Lansford, PA 18232. Checks should be made payable to PV-FBLA.
