Board: Dollar General plans not ready

A proposed Dollar General in Towamensing Township needs more work before it can become a reality, Carbon County officials say.

On Tuesday, the county planning commission voted to recommend conditional plan rejection for Joel E. Lesko and Joseph J. Weiner's project at 6805 Interchange Road. The plans call for constructing a 9,100-square-foot Dollar General store, parking lot, water and sewer facilities and associated stormwater controls.Ivan O. Meixell Jr., county planner, outlined his findings before the board's recommendations. He said that the plan had 22 areas of noncompliance with Towamensing Township's land development ordinances, including various buffer yards, easements not shown on the plan, NPDES permit not included with the plan and other issues. The recommendation now goes to the Towamensing Township engineer and the township planning commission for review. In other matters, the planning commission also made recommendations on the following plans:• Francis J. and Karen Kuhn received plan approval for a proposed subdivision at 171 S. Second St., Lehighton. The plans call for subdividing a one lot into two lots. Lehigh Gorge Drive, Lehigh Township. Vanblargan received conditional plan rejection for a proposed lot line revision at 1040 Walnut Drive, Towamensing Township. The plans call for combining two lots.
