LCCC student named nurse association president

Lehigh Carbon Community College student Jennifer Kalenkoski has been elected president of the National Student Nurses' Association at the 65th annual NSNA Convention, which took place recently in Dallas.

Kalenkoski, of Shenandoah, as a second-year associate degree in nursing student and current president of LCCC's Student Nurses Association of PA chapter, will serve as president for a one-year term.She represented NSNA at the International Council of Nurses in Barcelona, Spain, at the end of May and at various other national organizations throughout the year.She will act in the capacity of: leading the association by presiding at meetings, She will appoint committees and representatives; ensure that the lines of direction given by the house of delegates and board are put into effect; work closely with NSNA staff and board on all aspects of the organization; and facilitate relations with school and state constituents and with other national organizations.Kalenkoski graduated in May and will begin a position at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, on the Medical Cardiology Progressive Care Unit.She will pursue her bachelor's degree in nursing through Central Methodist University, Fayette, Mississippi, beginning in fall.For information on the nursing program at LCCC, call 610-799-1575 or email
