Josh Turner returns

Multiplatinum MCA Nashville recording artist Josh Turner will return to Penn's Peak at 8 p.m. July 29.

Turner is one of country music's most recognizable hitmakers. With a rich, deep voice and distinctive style, he has sold more than 12 million units, is a disciple of traditional country music and one of the youngest members of the Grand Ole Opry. From his 2003 platinum-selling debut, "Long Black Train," to his Billboard No. 1 release, "Punching Bag," Turner has garnered multiple Grammy, CMA and ACM nominations. His hits include "Your Man," "Why Don't We Just Dance," "Firecracker," "Would You Go with Me," "All Over Me" and "Time Is Love," the most played country song of 2012.Turner has added author to his list of accomplishments. His first book, "Man Stuff: Thoughts on Faith, Family and Fatherhood," was released in 2014.The Hannah, South Carolina, native has been songwriting and performing since he was a child, and in support of music education, created The Josh Turner Scholarship Fund to assist students interested in pursuing a future in arts and music.Great White and Faster PussycatOn July 15 Great White comes to the Peak, featuring Mark Kendall on guitar, Michael Lardie on guitar and keyboards, Audie Desbrow on drums, Scott Snyder on bass and Terry Ilous on vocals. It would be easy to coast on a career of more than 30 years, but we all know that maintaining a career that long isn't easy, nor is it about dwelling on the past. For fans of Grammy nominated blues-rock powerhouse Great White, their devotion to the band's classic songbook is just as fierce as the tracks yet-to-be written.Since 1982, the Great White sound has captivated audiences worldwide with crushing blues-based guitar riffs and swagger that invokes an emotional high for anyone who listens.Opening for Great White will be Faster Pussycat, a band that epitomizes Hollywood sleaze. Countless bands have adopted their look and demeanor in order to try to ride the Hollywood wave to success. Most fail. For those bands it's a costume … an act. For Faster Pussycat it's a way of life. They said it best in their song "Sex, Drugs & Rock 'n' Roll" off their 2006 album, "The Power and the Glory Hole." But they are much more than an image. First and foremost, Faster Pussycat is a rock band that has put out consistently great records and given it all on stage, where it counts the most.On the schedule• Friday, Buckcherry, 8 p.m.• July 14, Phil Vassar, 8 p.m.• July 15, Great White with special guest Faster Pussycat• July 28, Mr. Speed - World's Best KISS tribute• July 29, Josh Turner, 8 p.m.• Aug. 15, Ted Nugent, 8 p.m.• Aug. 18, The Beach Boys, 8 p.m.• Aug. 19, The Wall Live Extravaganza, 8 p.m.• Aug. 23, John Butler Trio, 8 p.m.• Aug. 25, Don McLean, 8 p.m.Tickets are available at all Ticketmaster outlets, the Penn's Peak Box Office and Roadies Restaurant and Bar.
