Coaldale police have charged a Saint Clair man in connection with a hit-and-run on Dec. 18 of last year.

Officers were called to a two-vehicle crash at Water and Fifth streets at 7:45 p.m.They learned that a silver Jeep Liberty had fled the scene after running a stop sign and hitting another vehicle. The Jeep's driver stopped and checked on the damage, then drove away.Police issued an all-points bulletin for the SUV and its driver.West Penn Township police saw the Jeep and tried to stop it, but the driver, later identified as Aaron W. Chesney, 22, of Saint Clair,refused to stop. As he was fleeing, he lost control and smashed into a tree. He ran off.The Jeep was towed from the scene. Police learned of Chesney's identity when they contacted the vehicle owner. He was positively identified by the victim.Chesney was charged with hit and run of an attended vehicle and failure to provide information/give aid.
