Fern Ridge Police investigate crashes

State police at Fern Ridge reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers:

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 5:42 a.m. on Oct. 3 along Sugar Hollow Road in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County. Troopers said Jacklyn A. Titus, 26, of Effort, was driving a 2016 Nissan Altima eastbound and traveling too fast for conditions while rounding a curve. The vehicle went onto the berm and hit a PennDOT sign and then a utility pole. Titus was not injured but the vehicle was towed.

She was cited for driving a vehicle at a unsafe speed.

• A hit-and-run crash reported on Oct. 12 at 11:54 a.m. in the parking area of Tractor Supply store along Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township. A 2019 Ford F250 supercab truck was struck while parked at the right of the main building. It sustained damages to the right rear area.

• A two-vehicle crash occurred at 12:01 p.m. on Oct. 12 at the intersection of Route 115 and Weir Lake Road in Chestnuthill Township. Troopers said Maryann T. McLaughlin, 71, of Saylorsburg, was on Weir Lake Road and attempting a left turn onto 115 when her 2009 Subaru Forester was struck by a 2008 Ford Focus operated by Alvaro D. Moscoso, 43, of Effort. No injuries were reported. Moscoso was cited for driving a vehicle while operating privileges are suspended.

• A two-vehicle crash was reported at 5:05 p.m. on Oct. 14 in a parking lot at the Pleasant Valley High School in Chestnuthill Township. Troopers said Shayne L. Frable, 59, of Kresgeville, was traveling in a northern direction while Angelica M. Cruci, 22, of Effort, was southbound. Frable veered into the southbound lane with her 2010 Chevrolet Traverse sideswiping Cruci’s 2011 Nissan Murano.

No one was injured. The Traverse was towed. Troopers cited Frable for the crash.

• A deer was involved in an incident along Jonas Road in Chestnuthill Township, on Oct. 14 at 7:25 p.m. Sonia N. Calderon, 55, of Effort, was driving a 2006 Hyundai Tucson northbound when a deer entered the road in front of her. The vehicle struck the deer. Calderon was not injured but the Tucson was towed.

• A crash occurred at 2:58 p.m. at the intersection of Route 115 and Weir Lake Road in Chestnuthill Township. Troopers said John M. Hopkins, 63, of Effort, was driving a 2003 Buick LeSabre eastbound on Weir Lake Road while Ryan L. Honey, 18, of Kunkletown, driving a 2004 Mazda 6, was southbound on Route 115. Troopers said Hopkins failed to yield the right of way at the stop sign and began to make a left turn when vehicle collided head-on with Honey’s vehicle.

Both drivers sustained serious injuries and were taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital — Pocono Campus, East Stroudsburg, by West End ambulance.

Troopers cited Hopkins for driving under the influence.
