Allentown ties record temperature

Taking a walk outside today, one might think that spring has sprung.

It's still winter, but Allentown's AccuWeather station has registered a record-tying high temperature.

"So far, the temperature has gone up to 76," AccuWeather meteorologist Alyson Hoegg said. "This will tie the record for today's date, set in 1985."

Hoegg said that the station located Lehighton is currently showing a high of 73 degrees, but that they did not keep historical records.

AccuWeather is currently showing that the temperature will dip down into the 60s by 7 p.m., reaching a low in the upper 50s overnight, but there is a remote chance of a new record.

"It has been climbing slightly, so there is a chance that Allentown could break 77," Hoegg said.
