State police are investigating two, one-vehicle crashes that occurred Thursday on snow-covered Schuylkill County roads.

Troopers at Schuylkill Haven said a 17-year-old male from Auburn was operating a 1994 Ford pickup truck eastbound on Route 895 in West Brunswick Township a 5:12 p.m. when he lost control while negotiating a right curve on a snow-covered road due to blowing snow in the area, troopers said. The vehicle began spinning sideways and traveled onto the berm with the left side of the truck struck a utility pole. After impact, the truck spun southeast for 12 feet along the berm and came to rest. The teen and his 13-year-old male passenger from Kempton, were not injured.A snow-covered Schuylkill County road was blamed for a one-vehicle crash that occurred at 9:05 p.m. along Route 61 in Butler Township.State police at Frackville said Michael A. Ashline, 43, of Cornville, Arizona, was driving a 2002 Dodge Durango southbound and ascending a hill and negotiating a sweeping left curve.Troopers said the road was snow-covered with blowing snow at various points. Ashline continued in the curve when his vehicle hit icy patches and the rear of the Durango began to spin to the right. The Durango then began to rotate counterclockwise about 100 degrees and slid across the northbound lane and onto the berm where it went down a 20-foot ditch/embankment before striking a small tree with its right front fender.Ashline, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured. The vehicle had to be towed.
