Nesquehoning Marine veteran missing

A Marine veteran from Nesquehoning has been missing for about a month, according to police.

John Charles Malchon, 49, was last seen on July 16 at a neighbor’s house, and may have been spotted later that day walking toward the railroad tracks behind his home on East Catawissa Street.He is described as a white man with brown eyes and shaved brown hair. He is between 5-foot-9 and 6 feet tall, weighing between 260-300 pounds.He has a U.S. Marine Corps tattoo on each arm.He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt, black nylon shorts, white socks and white sneakers.Malchon wears glasses, but it’s unknown whether he had them at the time when he disappeared.According to a social media post from a relative, Malchon’s phone was pinged in the Blue Pond area of the borough a few days after he disappeared. There was another reported sighting on Loggie Road about two weeks ago. The social media post has been shared 120 times.Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact Nesquehoning Police officer Timothy Wuttke at 570-669-9111.
