A Berks County motorcyclist sustained serious injuries in a crash that occurred Saturday in Schuylkill County.

State police at Frackville said Matthew G. Garverick, 30, of Bethel, was driving a 2001 Honda Shadow westbound on Route 443 in New Ringgold at 3:43 p.m. when he failed to negotiate a right curve in the road.The bike slid on the freshly tarred and chipped roadway while traveling around the curve. Garverick lost control of the bike causing it to leave the road. He was thrown from the bike and struck the guide rail along the north berm. The bike continued to a final rest just west of Garverick.Troopers said Garverick sustained serious injuries to his left arm and left leg. He was flown by medical helicopter to the Reading Hospital. Troopers were assisted at the scene by volunteers from the New Ringgold and West Penn Township fire companies and a Schuylkill EMS unit.
