Palmerton joins CLIU consortium

Palmerton Area School District will join a number of other local districts in a consortium through Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit to gain legal information pertaining to technology issues.

Palmerton's school board unanimously approved the agreement last week, and while the cost will be determined by how many districts pool together, Superintendent Scot Engler estimated the expense at $600."There are numerous issues circulating on the technology front pertaining to, for example, websites and accessibility," Engler said. "Joining this group will allow us to get information on those topics before they become an issue."While this consortium deals with technology, Palmerton has joined other groups in the past to get information related to topics such as special education and nursing services."It is very valuable information, and by joining other districts, we are able to get it at a reduced cost," Engler said.
