The Northwestern baseball team got plenty of offense in a win over Moravian Academy Wednesday. The Tamaqua softball team remained undefeated with a win against Blue Mountain, while Pleasant Valley earned a victory in tennis action.

BASEBALL

Moravian Academy-Northwestern

Tyler Wiik and Trevor Schreiner each hit three-run home runs to lead Northwestern to a 12-1 Colonial League win over Moravian Academy.

Schreiner finished 2-for-3 in the game with four RBIs to lead the Tigers (6-4; 6-3).

Deven Bollinger earned the pitching win, allowing just two hits in five innings of work.

Stroudsburg took an early lead and collected enough insurance to outlast Lehighton, 6-1.

Jordan Livingston earned the win on the mound for the Mounties, as he struck out six and allowed just three hits.

Offensively, Nate Kitchell finished 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. Brett Yarnall added a two-run single, and Ben Stokes had a double and an RBI.

For the Indians (4-5), Collin Haupt and Zach Crum both had doubles.

Blue Mountain-Tamaqua

Tamaqua pounded out 17 hits in its game against Blue Mountain to gain a 10-1 Schuylkill League win.

The Blue Raiders (12-0; 6-0) got big offensive games from Courtney Hoffman, who finished 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a run scored, Cailyn Joseph, who went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI, Taylar Donnon, who finished a perfect 4-for-4 with a double, three runs scored and an RBI, and Madison Matsago, who was 3-for-4 with two RBIs, two runs scored and a stolen base.

Pine Grove-Panther Valley

Panther Valley earned a split with Pine Grove in Schuylkill League track action as the Panther boys won a tight one, 72-69, while the Lady Panthers dropped their decision, 112-26.

Individually for the Panthers, Josh Rodriguez won both hurdle events, while teammates Anthony Micholik (100), Daniel Gilberry (400), Sebastian Reynolds (javelin) and Tyler Davis (long jump) all earned firsts.

PV’s Alexa Ruzicka picked up wins in the 100 hurdles and the long jump, while Tia Ketchledge nabbed a win in the triple jump.

Saucon Valley pulled off a sweep over Northern Lehigh in a Colonial League meet, as the boys defeated the Bulldogs, 97-53, with the Lady Panthers prevailing, 102-48.

Individually for the Bulldogs, Jillian Olewine was a double winner, as she took first in the long and triple jumps.

Franki Dibilio (shot put), Andrea Snyder (discus) and Tori Csanadi (high jump) also added firsts.

For the boys, Ryan Fine (200), Jackie Ni (shot put), Joe Egan (javelin), Nick Miller (pole vault), Robert Shoff (high jump) and Chase Ohlson (long jump) all won events.
