Tamaqua incident details

Tamaqua police released information on several recent cases.

• James Richard Rodick, 67, of Ryan Avenue, Tamaqua, was cited for driving under the influence of alcohol on April 6.Police were notified of an erratic driver traveling north on Pine Street in a red Chevrolet S10 pickup. The truck then turned onto Elm Street and made a turn onto Railroad Street, traveling in the wrong direction on the one-way street.Rodick appeared to be drunk. He was transported to St. Luke's Miners Campus in Coaldale for blood tests.Charges are pending the test results.• Christopher Berrios, 24, of the 600 block of East Broad Street, Tamaqua, and Michael Saunders, 26, of Catasauqua, were cited for disorderly conduct after a fight at 4:15 p.m. on March 31. The dispute took place in the 500 block of Rolling Mill Avenue.Saunders was transported to the Schuylkill County prison in Pottsville on an outstanding warrant issued by Bucks County officials.• Michael Starr, 45, of the 200 block of Valley Street, Brockton, was charged with providing false information in an attempt to purchase a firearm.Starr attempted to purchase a Savage Arms rifle at Ed's Sports Shop on Nov. 12, 2016, despite being barred from purchasing a gun due to pleading guilty to making terroristic threats in 2004.Starr checked no on the federal firearms form box that asked if he had ever been convicted of a felony or any crime that could result in imprisonment for more than one year.• Police are investigating an act of criminal mischief that caused damage to a Caterpillar loader owned by the borough water authority. The equipment was parked in the Howard D. Buehler Memorial Park. Someone smashed the windows in the machine sometime between 4 p.m. on March 28 and 12:17 p.m. on March 30.Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 570-668-5000.
