Remembering Sept. 11

• A 9/11 remembrance ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday,in Nesquehoning at the VFW Post Home at 300 E. Center St. The public is invited to attend.• The Carbon County Department of Veterans Affairs will conduct a Patriots Day memorial service at 8:40 a.m. Mondayin the Josiah White Park in Jim Thorpe. All emergency services, veterans organizations and the public are invited to attend this service that will honor those who perished on Sept. 11, 2001.• Life (Lehighton Interfaith Fellowship) will hold a 9/11 Remembrance Service at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Lehighton Park Amphitheater.All are invited and are asked to bring a candle that will be lit at the designated time in the service. In case of inclement weather, the service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, Third and Mahoning streets in Lehighton.Monroe County• Zion Lutheran Church, Brodheadsville, is partnering with the Western Pocono Community Library, the West End Fire Company and the Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network to have a Remembrance Day memorial to honor and remember all those who died, those who served and those affected by the 9/11 tragedy 15 years ago. The event will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Western Pocono Community Library and will include a group choir, the possibility to bring canned goods for the PVEN and a reception.• The Sunday school students of Salem-St. Paul Lutheran Church in Kresgeville are hosting a community event onSunday to honor the people in the community who do so much to help others, including Helpers, Healers and Heroes.The free event will include food, fellowship and fun. Local agencies will be on hand to provide information, and there will be family-friendly games and activities.The service is at 10:30 a.m. and the celebration of recognition is from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.Schuylkill County• A service to mark the 15th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks will be held at 5 p.m. Saturdayfrom the Grier City Union Sunday school in Rush Township.• The Rev. Phyllis Wolford will officiate at the 9:15 a.m. worship service this Sunday in St. John's Lutheran Church in Tamaqua. The service will include a 9/11 anniversary remembrance.• Tamaqua's South Ward Playground Association will continue its tradition of sponsoring Tamaqua's 9/11 Remembrance Service at 6 p.m. Sundayat the playground, located at Penn and Oak Streets in Tamaqua. The public is welcome. Seating is limited, so participants are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs. Former Tamaqua Mayor Richard Hadesty will serve as the master of ceremonies.Send your event to
