Police are investigating a head-on crash Thursday afternoon in West Penn Township. The crash occurred at 4:30 p.m. along Route 895 at the entrance to the Pines of West Penn. West Penn police said a woman was driving a Ford Escape traveling west and said she had started to slow down to make a left turn into the development when she noticed she was being tailgated. Fearful she was going to be struck in the rear she hurried her turn pulling into the path of an eastbound Ford Escape operated by an elderly gentleman. The vehicles collided head-on. West Penn firefighters extricated the man from the wreckage. West Penn Fire police maintained traffic control at the scene. West Penn police are investigating the incident.
