No. Lehigh blanks Bombers

Northern Lehigh coach Jess Frew had been waiting for her team to put it all together.

Much to her delight, the Lady Bulldogs did just that Wednesday night in front of a Senior Night crowd at Bulldog Stadium. The end result was a 2-0 Colonial League shutout of Palmerton."It feels great to get the win, especially on Senior Night," Frew said. "It's just really nice to see the girls come together and play together. That's the first time I've really seen all of them be on their best game and play together, so it's great."The Lady Bulldogs are raring for the start of postseason play, which begins next week. With only a non-league game with Lehighton remaining on their regular season schedule, Frew is hoping this trend of teamwork persists."I really couldn't be happier with everyone playing well and consistently giving their best efforts," she added. "As long as we're feeling confident in our performance, I think we'll get the ball rolling and be successful."Last night, Madison Posivak found the ball following a scuffle in front of the Bomber net and put the winners on the board first."It was very important to get the win tonight, especially because it was Senior Night," Posivak, a sophomore, said. "It was really nice to get the lead early so that we could relax a little bit."In the second half, the Bulldogs saw Amber Cieri feed Madison Amorim for the insurance goal about midway through the session."I'm pleased with the game tonight, but there are plenty of things we need to work on," Frew said. "We need to take better advantage of our opportunities and finish strong inside the circle. Tonight, I thought we let too many scoring chances go by, so hopefully we can work on that for the postseason."Palmerton coach Taryn Burke shared similar remarks."We are happy with the progress we've made," said Burke, whose Bomber team will also qualify for postseason play. "But we want to continue to work on everything. We want them to come together and put their best effort out there."NUMBERS ...
