Schuylkill crashes reported

• One driver sustained a minor injury in a two-vehicle crash along Interstate 81 in Butler Township, Schuylkill County, that occurred at 9:20 a.m. on Nov. 17.

State police at Frackville said Aleksic Cedomir, 28, of Mount Prospect, Illinois, was northbound and began to slow down after seeing a vehicle ahead of him go out of control. His 2011 Volvo D13 truck was struck in the rear by a 2016 Ford Focus operated by Suzanne M. Miskiel, 59, of Drums, Luzerne County, who also began to slow down but did not stop in time.Cedomir had a minor injury but did not require immediate medical attention. Troopers cited Miskiel for careless driving.• A Schuylkill County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence following a one-vehicle crash that occurred at 2:11 p.m. Wednesday along Long Run Road in Wayne Township. While this crash was being investigated, another crash occurred in the same area.State police at Schuylkill Haven said Susan M. Rochford, 33, of Port Carbon, was driving a 1998 Dodge Ram truck westbound when she became distracted by her cellphone. Rochford lost control of the truck, which left the road and struck a utility pole head-on. Troopers said Rochford sustained a minor injury but did not require medical attention.She was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI. The DUI charge is pending test results, troopers said.The second crash occurred as John C. Wychunas Jr., 65, of Schuylkill Haven, was stopped in traffic westbound for the first crash when his 2011 Chevrolet Equinox was struck in the rear by a 2006 Volkswagen Jetta driven by Hayden M. Boston, 18, also of Schuylkill Haven.Wychunas was injured and taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital - South Jackson Street Campus, Pottsville.Troopers cited Boston for the crash.• One driver received serious injuries in a two-vehicle crash that was reported at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.State police at Frackville said the crash occurred along West Mount Laffee Road in New Castle Township. Troopers said Joseph A. Kubeldis, 43, of Frackville, was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Ranger pickup eastbound when he fell asleep. The Ranger entered the westbound lane where Shannon L. Goerner, 38, of Minersville, driving a 2005 Toyota Solara, swerved to avoid a collision. The Ranger hit the passenger side quarter panel of the Solara. After impact the Ranger left the road on the north side, where it struck a tree with its front end.Kubeldis, who was not wearing a seat belt, suffered serious injuries, troopers said, and was flown by medical helicopter to the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Goerner was not injured and was wearing a seat belt. Troopers cited Kubeldis for the crash.
