State police investigate thefts

State police at Lehighton reported on the following incidents investigated by troopers.

• Troopers said a 36-year-old woman from Greenhill Road, in Kunkletown, Polk Township, Monroe County, was the victim of a scam. Troopers said she provided $1,200 in eBay gift cards to a website that she believed to be providing her a refund for canceled travel plans. The website was fraudulent and the funds from the gift cards were electronically taken without the victim being provided the services promised, troopers said. The investigation is continuing.

• Troopers are investigating an attempted burglary at a residence along Bear Creek Lake Drive in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County. The victims, a woman, age 92 and man, age 93, reported someone attempted to open a basement door on the home. The incident was reported on Aug. 2 at 3:30 p.m.

• A 56-year-old woman from White Street, Weissport, reported someone stole her Access card. The incident was reported at 10:29 a.m. on July 26.
